As the title says I hope to upgrade my system from the above to either
-
i7-11700kF
12G RTX3060 SUPER -
I9-11900KF
8G RTX 3070
Any thoughts on the best option for MS2020.
Thanks in advance

Tbh, if it were me, I’d leave the i7 that you have and save for a 12 series processor. The Graphics card upgrade would work on your existing system and any new one, so that’s ok.
Obviously it depends on what you’ll be doing in the sim, if you have any particularly heavy requirements etc, but in my experience the 11 series CPU isn’t going to give you a massive difference.
I’m going to second XR219 on the CPU and the 3060 super has a doggedly slow memory bus that said keep maybe upgrade the cooling on the 9th gen and funnel the savings toward a 3080 or if you can a 3080ti … in my opinion you could sit out a CPU until you’re ready to make the leap and DDR5 is more affordable.
Edit: Afterthought, you also most likely need a new power supply to drive a 3080/3080ti
My personal opinion, 8GB VRAM is too low now and given the performance of a 3070 it should IMO have more than 8GB. 1440P, 4K 8GB can be insufficient resulting in stutters. I know my 2070 Super in the DX12 Beta the VRAM is above the game allocated amount
Also new NVIDIA graphics card will be released in 2022, I would wait and buy a 40 series.
Full long game isnt bad either, OP has a fine system unless trying VR or 4k plus
I might be wrong but because of the memory bus the the 3060 “super” could even be at best an equal with the 2070S
Some great advice guys I will use it to do more research.
thank you GT
Save a bit more and get something like a 3080ti. 8gb is the bare minimum for this sim. I have an rtx2060super with 8gb and its not enough for 1440p ultrawide.
2070s is sort of an on par with a 3060 and a bit faster in some games and.
3070 is basically a 2080ti with only 8gb of vram which is not enough for 1440p and 4k.
