There are currently no indications that Steam users are affected by this issue.

And once found one can right click on the folder and pin it to the start menu. This creates a shortcut to the folder on the start menu so one doesn’t have to go through that process again.

Does it matter? It’s part of the beta program. Opting in means you got it, opting out means you didn’t.

Obviously it was a mistake and an inconvenience, but as near as I can tell it didn’t affect people that were not in the beta program.

No photo but I saw it, too.

Just kinda wondering at this point if I’m safe to launch MSFS2024. I’ve not launched it since these issues were reported over the weekend. I was in the SU1 beta and have removed myself from it within the Insider Hub app. I did have automatic updates checked, but have not launched the sim since last week - from what I’m gathering, I’ve safeguarded myself from this wipe to the best of my ability and should just launch it to see what happens?

There are reports above from people who claimed to be affected who were not in the Beta.

Further, some of us opted out BEFORE attempting to load into the sim and were affected, and then after the first reinstall, were affected AGAIN with a complete second forced reinstall, many hours after the first reinstall. Again, all after leaving the beta.

Solution is simple… Asobo, just release SU2 beta

I will also add that this fiasco will not deter me from participating in the SU2 beta when it’s released.

You want to start WW3 or what ? hahah… no but for me, all I want is my hundreds of screenshots I’ve taken since the game came out… I had some really great wallpapers on my desktop randomly popping and I don’t feel like going back to every locations to retake my shots… and with live weather, it’s almost impossible to recreate… I’ve heard some pêople also lost their instant replays ? that is extremely sad, I’m glad I have not used that feature yet.

I was also lucky that I did not load MSFS2024 since last Thursday. Once I read about this issue I chose not to turn on my computer. So I am waiting for a rollback or official way to avoid this issue completely.

Since this phantom update the game is performing really badly. Before Saturday it was running fine form me. On the update I lost al the items in the community folder but as I did not have a lot in it was not much of a problem but now the game CTD loads and is maxing out my vram and main thread. Now getting around 10 fpm with all my settings set to the same before the update. Was getting 30 to 50 before. I have left the beta testing and completely re-installed the sim but it is still the same.

Well, same here.

Now something that’s gotten lost in the noise - and perhaps fairly so, as it’s a tangent to the issue - is that when I discovered this thread, unenrolled from the TWO SU1 Beta entries in the Insiders Hub, gone through the first FS’24 reinstall process, I also decided to unenroll from the now-stale FS2020 Beta program. That forced an initial several gigabyte “update” to FS2020 that broke my sim - 4 silent CTDs in a row during loading. I had to spend most of Saturday reinstalling FS2020 entirely from scratch. Between the main sim and the World/City Updates, that was over 280+GB, followed by “pruning out” all the stuff I had long-since deleted (trainings, discovery flights, bush trips, etc), then downloading Marketplace content again … I was not a happy camper to discover unenrolling from a stale beta would break what is still my main sim in such a way. And then after all that, FS’24 forced a SECOND reinstall when I tried to load in later Saturday evening!

So as for FS’24 and the putative start of the SU2 Beta, sure. I will re-enroll and see how it goes. But I am doing as little as possible to my FS2020 installation again.

And it starts and stops right at the top.

Release SU2 beta!!! This should fix the mess at least for those who did not update on Friday

As far as I know, there has been total silence from Asobo HQ. I’m sure someone came to work today, and they are discussing this. They really should address an issue that has affected so many customers.

On Xbox only here (no PC). I was still in the SU1 beta. To my knowledge there is no way for me turn off automatic updates. After discovering the warning that included Xbox users, I booted up my Xbox and immediately started up the Insiders Hub to opt out of beta and saw exactly the same screen referenced above with two copies of the beta with identical descriptions and the first one selected. Opted out of beta, rebooted, started FS24 and noticed no problems or loss of settings all day yesterday. On Xbox I have no ability to see or control where anything is stored, backup particular files or see what files have been updated in the background.

Maybe I was just lucky this time? Under the hood I know my Xbox is just a “tightly closed” PC so surprising that it would not have had the same issues. Those in the know behind the curtain might be able to compare how the different platforms are deployed and learn something to avoid or replicate next time.

Dont expect to hear anything from Asobo.
They are just the ddveloper and never have any contact with us other than the live streams.

Microsoft is the Publisher. Microsoft is releasing the software and updates. And microsoft is in charge of all communication.

When your Iphone has an issue, dont expect the manufaturer in china (Foxxcom?) to adress this issue. Expect Apple to do so.

It is the same here. Asobo is just the contracted manufacturer, but it is Microsoft that is pulling all the threads.
And as they are located at the Wescoast they are just about to return to office.

Seriously? This wasn’t a serious or urgent issue because it was only the beta participants? Jorg just in the last Q&A session said the only reason SU1 went as well as it did was by the participation of the community, and urged more people to help out. So when you are promoting “You signed up for the chance at problems and you got them” and state it wasn’t an urgent issue, you are basically promoting people don’t sign up for beta’s anymore. Is that really what we want as a goal at this juncture?

Not quite true. It seems to have not affected people (like me) who were never in the Beta program.

I’m not too worried about losing the community folder because I use add on Linker for my add-ons but I can’t find the exe.xml file. So I lost GSX and logitech radio’s links. Did the .xml files get deleted too?
