Urgent warning of fake sim

There is currently a fake sim site called “VirtualPilot3D” in the wild … DONT BUY !!!

It´s known since many years for faking flightsimmers

As you say, it’s been around for years. It has a few other names too. Basically they are selling the free simulator “Flightgear”
They put it on a disc and sell it, which unfortunately is legal. The way they do it though is rather dodgy… bombarding people with emails… 70% discount, one time offer” etc
Also the dvd case is designed to look like it’s made by Microsoft.

Steve

i guess the flightgear project is something else … it´s an open source project for free

Correct… but unfortunately these scammers burn it onto a disc and sell it under several different names… Virtual Pilot 3D being one of them.

yes … hopefully no one buys this fake

Well… now I have watched it before buying and my review: No one with the slightest amount of common sense would buy this trash with year 1998 graphics.
But for year 1995 graphics it almost looks too good to be true!

Just look at these gorgeous triangular shaped 2D bitmaps every 300 yards which they consider a “forest”, it´s almost jungle out there! One can barely see the ground texture of these lovely with utmost attention to detail rendered woods.
Probably an upgrade to the newest AMD Athlon and a 32 megabyte VRAM graphics card will be necessary to run this beast with medium settings.

If this website refers to the product mentioned by OP, it’s a scam. The graphics shown on their homepage and video has nothing to do with the YT videos posted above.

Just watched the YT video… I know it was uploaded 8 years ago, but I was gobsmacked by his comments. He has to either have no idea what he’s talking about… or be one of the scammers trying to sell it. I think probably the latter.
Value for money? LOL. It’s Flightgear! (which is free)

The website (link posted above) looks just like one of the many, many spam emails I used to receive… all claiming to be the best sim ever etc. I used to get at least 4 or 5 emails everyday trying to sell me the sim, under several different names. Virtual Pilot 3D is just one of them. This went on for years. Blocking them didn’t help, so had to change my email address in the end.

Get them almost every day - fortunately, I maanged to get my email host to recognise them as spam, so they go directly into the spam folder and get deleted after every session.

The only genuine one that gets caught up in that is the Rise of Flight emails from 777 Studios, which is strange because the ones from 1C (IL-2) don’t, so I’ve no idea what 777 do differently to make it appear as spam.

In any case, although I have seen posts by people saying they bought this on disc and were happy - probably the scammers themselves, I can’t see anyone with any noddle at all being caught out by it in this day and age. Even the Android ones.

Flightgear has made a FAQ about this issue:

Pretty sad story, all in all.

The website says it’s FAA Certified.
Could be a federal crime to claim endorsement by a federal agency.

This Website tells a lot that is to good to be true … that´s the central trick … don´t believe or buy anything here :money_mouth_face: … it links direct to paypal to get a fast buy
