KATL is one of the new hand modeled airports in the new USA update. As a steam user this airport is placed in the Microsoft Flight Simulator\Packages\Official\Steam folder in a folder titled microsoft-airport-katl-atlanta. Prior to the update I had purchased on the market place the Imaginesim KATL scenery. Because I purchased at it on the market place on steam the Imaginesim KATL scenery was also placed in the Microsoft Flight Simulator\Packages\Official\Steam folder in a folder called “imaginesim-katl”
Question 1: because the two KATL sceneries are located in the same parent folder “Microsoft Flight Simulator\Packages\Official\Steam” how does the sim , and how do I know, which KATL is actually being loaded when I enter the sim?
Question 2: If I remove the purchased Imaginesim KATL scenery from the Microsoft Flight Simulator\Packages\Official\Steam folder and saved it somewhere outside of the Sim directories (so I could compare the two airports) will steam allow me to bring the imaginesim-katl airport scenery folder back into the Microsoft Flight Simulator\Packages\Official\Steam folder?
The ImagineSim version should load due to the way the virtual file system works. However, it is always safest to delete one of the versions (in content manager) so you don’t end up with conflicts. When you delete, content manager will then show the deleted airport as available for download so you can easily get it back if you choose.
You don’t need to copy it elsewhere. Just delete it in content manager and re-download. IMO, the ImagineSim version, while not very good, is still better than the Asobo version.
I got same issue but could not start the US discovery tour when I deleted Asobo KATL , as it said i was missing a file so I had to delete imaginsim version. I’ll put it back and delete Asobo after I finish tour. Just another day in msfs 2020…
I prefer the ImagineSim version, but only barely. Similar products by Fsdreamteam or Flightbeam are far better and less expensive. I wouldn’t have bought the ImagineSim version if I had it to do over again.
If I knew Asobo was going to add a free one, probably wouldn’t have purchased as I only usually buy ORBX, FSdream, Gaya… admit got sucked in by marketing spin -advertising.
Anyway paid products are usually far superior, in this case agree with geoffda Imagisim ok but only just… But hopefully they will continue to add updates to improve KATL as a third party.
Well, the problem is, that both KATL airports will get loaded by the sim which results in a huge fps drop and doubled buildings. This problem exists only with KATL for me. So I have deactivated the imaginesim version.
I also own the Flightbeam verison of KDEN which doesn’t seem to cause any conflict with the Asobo version.
