USB 3 and graphics card Oculus Quest 2 in VR

Hello, could someone explain to me why the connection of the Quest 2 headphones is done on a usb port type “C” or on a usb port 3? Wouldn’t it be better on a displayport directly on the graphics card and not on the motherboard? What is the explanation for this connection, which for me is not fast enough. Thank you for your enlightened answers.

Not a hundred per cent sure (or even 50% for that matter!) but I thought that if you connected the VR HMD to display port for visuals/audio you would also need a usb connection to the PC for tracking data purposes. More connections, higher costs so possibly that is why they stuck with usb C or 3? Just really guessing and could easily be wrong here so, yes, like you I am also interested in any comments :slightly_smiling_face:

Well, I see that you feel the same way I do. So let’s wait until someone gives us the real reason for the USB. :slightly_smiling_face:

The reason the default cable uses USB-C was just to insure a USB 3 connection for power purposes. After doing some research I found a cable online that is compatible and is USB 3 on the PC side. Either USB 3.0 or 3.1 ports will work but anything less doesn’t provide enough power which is the issue

Yes, all right, the USB port brings a power supply, the displayport also. What surprises me is that the connection to a USB port of the computer, makes work the graphics card integrated to the motherboard but not the Nvidia graphics card or other, it is only my opinion. That is exactly what I am concerned about.
