NASA has a system called FIRMS that provides global, real time fire sensing.
this is a data source that could be integrated into the digital twin and provide real-time firefighting scenarios for all users. There is already a third party app that provides this, Aero Fire Global. But I would hope native integration would be a more streamlined and efficient answer. you are already reading boat and plane traffic, weather and Auroras. would adding this be feasable? Same question for lightning detection, but i dont know if that is worldwide.
Being part of the community in aerial firefighting. This would be an amazing addition for such a dynamic mission set.
However, this would mean they’d also move this mission type, the equipment availability on aircraft outside of career mode. Which currently, despite it being a highly voted for option here, hasn’t been addressed by the developers. So who knows there. It would be nice for them to actually expand firefighting operations in general in this sim, since it’s nearly non-existent to the real operations. You need truck loads of payware addons to even get marginal options for it. Despite it being a ‘native’ thing in this sim.
We have no marked retardant bases, only one, single VLAT retardant based tanker, and 2 small and intermediate sized scoopers. That’s it. And based upon recent findings in the SDK, apparently, MS/Asobo also have retracted any implementation of helicopters doing firefighting in this sim, which is asinine to me.
Sorry, I’m hijacking this, but this addition would be greatly needed on top of the general expansion of this mission set out of career mode, because the AI mission generation setup currently, I’m sorry to say, is pretty trashy and inaccurate.
