Useful Forums for MSFS

This Forum is my main one for keeping up with MSFS, but I am active on some others which sometimes provide useful info on MSFS. Do you have any other Sim forums that you really like that are relevant to MSFS? Cheers.

I honestly only check here regularly. I find the functionality superb - best forum “software” system I have ever seen. Makes all others seem so dated now!

I use AVSIM regularly as it hosts the form for many third party products.

The MSFS subreddit is ok, more of a “happily enjoying the sim” forum than here; lots of people there get offended if you criticize the state of things too much.

Reddit (what SharpWave said) along with the usual flight sim forums that have been around for years and tend to be more objective and/or balanced that the forum here (sometimes more technical as well). No need to post links, a Google search will return 90% of this stuff within seconds.

I’m also using the current forum as my primary source of information and tend to spend time here on a daily basis, but there’s way too much “happily enjoying the sim” stuff or people patting Asobo’s back and feeling overly grateful or whatever.

You’ve got vitriolic arguments on one side and “MSFS is the best thing that’s happened in my life” on the other. Both offer nothing to the sim’s progress and the numerous flaws it still has, so I’ve learned to ignore both (the CTDs thread with 1200+ votes and 6k+ messages is the best example, as you’ll see plenty of people coming in to simply saying they never had any issues and it must be the end user’s fault, or e.g. that it’s perfectly acceptable that MSFS is very intolerant to overclocking).

Generally people tend to take the time to visit forums to learn something or solve a problem, not pat each other’s back and preach patience to unhappy users or flag/hide messages they don’t agree with (nevermind that the message may be the most upvoted in the thread) or vigorously defend bad programming/testing/quality (which for whatever reason is acceptable practice, whereas feedback which isn’t perceived as “constructive” isn’t wanted at all).

Having said that, I understand that the current forum is the official one so different rules need to apply here and in the end, it’s still one of the most useful MSFS forums out there.

My main forum is avsim.com but I also look in on flightsim.com from time to time and here of course. I have sometimes searched on reddit if i am looking for something specific.

Avsim have the most comprehensive set of forums out there for each simulator, hardware, scenery design, screenshots and many others.

Apart from those, the only other flightsim site I visit regularly is flightsim.to to feed my unquenchable thirst for new addons.

I regularly check the SOH (Sim Outhouse) MSFS forum. They’re not incredibly active but sometimes aircraft are announced or even released there first. A lot of the “old guard” of flight sim hangs around there, and comically there’s a casual feud between their forums and the official forums, but some good stuff comes up there. Just don’t be surprised if you get called a “rivet counter” once or twice :stuck_out_tongue: Worth adding, their main interest is warbirds so if that’s your thing you’re in good company.

Judging from your avatar, I’m also guessing you’ll like the MSFS section at Sim-Outhouse, and I’m not just saying that because I’m the moderator for that particular sub-forum!

Hello All!

I am many, many years in flightsimulation and my main information source was and are the internet forums.

I am a “daily” visitor of this forum. I like the tone and the active users. The forum software is clear and simple. Most important, the moderators are keeping the threads clean of bashing and “RTFM” replies.
Thank you to all forum moderators! I appreciate your work alot compared to other hobby forums.

So I am curious: What forums or other sources you use for improving your experience with MSFS?

This is my personal hit-list beside this forum:

There seems to be a trend to have all on Discord but I have not yet become accustomed to it.
The information posted there is not well sorted or easy searchable. But as a support forum to contact third party createors it seems to work. Maybe I am a bit “old-fashioned” here.

So what is your source of information to learn more about the MSFS, the tools, the planes, home cockpits, etc. ??? Where to exchange with other enthusiats?

Hi I use this forum and AVSIM
I use Discord as well for Freeware projects (FBW) and for streamers.
Any computer things related I use the Linus Tech Tips forum.

There was a similar thread a couple weeks ago with quite a few additions.

Oh, did not find that on my search with topic “forums”, strange…

The official forums when i need official news

The steam forums when i want to give people a hard time

FSElite and Threshold.
