As the title says want to use my ipad with MSFS - mainly to use it to display instruments - PFD and MFD (only using one large monitor currently) and also want to use it for a moving map (currently use littlenavmap on the monitor).
Just wondering what everyone else is using and the solution they recommend? (so far have read about foreflight and also spacedesk)…?
I use Navigraph for moving maps. I also have WiredXDisplay to use my tablet as a second monitor.
You could pop out the screens inside glass panel cockpits.
For gauges look at AirManager.
thanks for the reply.
1)Presume for navigraph you just subscribe and then run it on your tablet?
2)By pop out assume you mean doing this on the monitor (have tried and it blocks my view) or do you mean popping out and then being able to drag the pop out onto your tablet? - is this something WiredXDisplay allows you to do and is it easy to setup? (assume the tablet needs to be connected to your computer via a lighning usb cable?)
Yep you need the Navigraph Charts subscription, and there’s a native iOS Charts app. Works great, and Navigraph with its FMS data and charts is well worth the money for me, adds so much to the experience.
I don’t know WiredXDisplay, but I was trying to do the same thing with the ‘Duet’ app - you pop out the window in MSFS and then drag it onto the tablet. Unfortunately by old first gen iPad mini wasn’t beefy enough to handle this, but any newer iPad should do fine…

Little nav map has a web server function, you enable it and then use the browser on the iPad to see the moving map. No need to pay anything.
I’m using littlenavmap on an old ipad (ios 9) wich is considered as a second screen using spacedesk .
It is also easy to drag and drop msfs gauges on it
It’s free and no setup needed, just install on your pc and on your ipad
It works well
Spacedesk or/and Touch Control Panel

Yes. You can use an app like WiredXDisplay or Duet to create a second monitor and then drag the popped out display to it. Depending on your hardware you may see a hit to FPS with this.
You can use SpaceDesk (free vs Duet) and use your iPad as a wireless monitor onto which you can move popped out instruments. It’s very easy and works well. Just be aware that the very act of popping out instruments will cost you some performance - up to 10 fps.
