Validate/Verify Files

Hi

Anyone know how to validate/verify the MSFS installation, I know steam has a validate option but that only validates the launcher files that steam downloaded. How do i validate the files in the main installation that the launcher downloads.

My problem is constant Crashing To Desktop today, yesterday i had many hours of flying with only a few CTD’s usually after a few hours of flying. Today it is crashing constantly usually shortly after take off within a few minutes and it has even CTD while in the home screen so i was looking to check that no files have got corrupted. This all started to happen this morning and nothing has really changed from yesterday even the PC had not been restarted as it usually stays on 24/7. I have since rebooted but the problem still persists so i need to validate the install.

I tried to validate this morning after performing the update yesterday. I was trying to see if the Steam version was underlying the issues we’re having with missing airport navdata. Validation appears to have deleted 18 of my aircraft. After validating and restarting the sim, I ended up with a 448MB download at the patch screen, then 2+ GB of aircraft data from the Content Manager. It didn’t fix the missing navdata :frowning:

Therefore, I don’t recommend validating your install.

I don’t recommend validating the Steam files either. Both times I’ve done this resulted in all files in the Official folder be deleted. That means 80-120GB redownload of the sim (depending on how much stuff from Content Manager you download).
