I was in touch with Varjo support. They told me that the focal distance in the Aero is 85cm. So if you get perscription glasses for use with the Aero, they should work if they let you see clearly at this distance (around 3ft)
VR Optician (I was also in touch with them) told me they will still need my values for infinite distance (i.e. 4m +), and they will do the rest, so their inserts will work fine with the Aero. Unfortunately, they do not yet have an arrival date for their inserts…

What puzzles me it that the guys who make the inserts (who are also in touch with Varjo) need my perscription strenght for infinite distance. They told me that they do their own ray tracing calculations based on that info, to make sure there inserts deliver a clear image for that particular user.
But how can they know from my distance values what will work for me at the 85cm focal distance in the Varjo?
Well, never mind… I‘ll just wait for the inserts, trust the experts and hope I‘ll get a result worthy of the Aero…
it makes sense… I can tell you though that with my G2, I cannot use my Intermediate glasses, so assume that the G2 has much further focal distance than 85cm.
I did read somewhere that VROptician (where I got my Zeiss lens inserts from for the G2) did their own calculations based upon the prescription AND the headset type… maybe it was twitter or a FAQ on their site.
So, from the above - does this mean that if you need reading spectacles (I do) then the image in a Varjo Aero could be blurry? In the Quest2 it is just fine, but from what is being said that has an infinite focal point

Yes, pretty much so. If you do not see clearly at 85cm distance, you will need glasses (or inserts) for the Aero.

Hi guys. Got a Varjo Aero/Nvidia 3070/32 Gb RAM combination that I mainly use to fly MSFS 2020. Problem is, after a few minutes into the flight Varjo Base software spikes up its GPU usage well above 50%, and FPS rate drops dramatically into MSFS. Only solution, and not always efficient as such, is to restart Varjo Base software midgame. Any of you going through the same issue? Also I use OpenXR Toolkit, but deactivating it makes no difference. I tried Process Lasso to no avail either. Thanks in advance!
