Surely it’s the data that each is using is from disparate sources and hence the issues resulting in different flight planes ? I like them both providing they use the same data source
I appreciate the level of complexity that some people go into here.
I am mostly a sim pilot. I do my best to learn about all things aviation and not just crash F18’s all the time. But I’m certainly no 787 pilot.
That being said, yes, I agree - nav sources are all over the place. So my tactic is to create a plan in the web tool and then just enter waypoints / procedures manually if I want to make it closer to reality. I pay no heed to the altitude or IFR/VFR options. I prefer VFR simply because ATC and flight plan never see eye to eye and I don’t want airline procedure penalties. But if I want to, I just request IFR following via ATC and cancel it before I begin my descent.
Once the plan is sent to avionics (I only did it with G1000 and G3000), it’s what I go off, because that’s what autopilot uses
If I’m lazy, I just select the EFB route and send to avionics. Then it’s all the same.
This makes the route in EFB and the blue boxes unnecessary, but I still find myself using them as reference.
