VATSIM in VR

I am trying to gauge what the level of both age and experience is to flying in VR whilst also connected to VATSIM. How many flight simmers actually fly in VR and also if you do how or what tools do you use to record instructions?

I usually fly on Vatsim in VR. There are several toolbar apps providing their own notepads to note down instructions. But its easier for me to use the FMC scratchpad like many IRL pilots do. You can add to Vatsim and VR the shared cockpit with a buddy and then immersion is complete.

I use VATSIM in VR. For notes I do old school and peek under the headset and write on a bit of paper

For apps, vpilot and this works really well, and allows access to a lot of info meaning you can stay in headset a lot more:

VSR Toolbar app for VATSIM

I use vrs a lot , but I need to write the clearance in a real paper, in this moment I do a little double tap on the right in my quest 3.

Hi, I’ve been flying on VATSIM in VR since 2018.

I use VSR to check if someone has just connected while I’m flying.

For clearances, I use the FMC scratchpad. For example, if my first waypoint is “LARPA,” I know my departure will be something like LARPA3Q or LARPA3Z.

Let’s say the clearance is: “Departure LARPA3Z, initial climb 6000, squawk 1735.”

I would write in the FMC scratchpad: 3Z/6000/1735.

I do the same for taxi instructions. For example: “Taxi to holding point B3 via Alpha, Alpha 2, Sierra.”

I would write: HPB3/A/A2/S.

This method is also used in real life.

Its tricky in VR, if you have a decent “pass through” headset it helps a lot but for Pimax users it’s hard.

In real Ife the “PNF” does all the radio and scribbling of clearances etc.

I will try this, thanks

Thank you to all who gave excellent advice
