I have not downloaded or purchased any model-matching software or products. I simply use vpilot to connect to Vatsim. Normally there is some variety of generic aircraft (although more often than not other aircraft are depicted as the standard boxy-looking, a330-type aircraft)…I recently flew into KLGA and noticed a DAL md88 parked at a gate. I have the mad dog add on, otherwise I am wondering how this particular model appeared so realistically?
It’s most likely coming from your Maddog addon. When you set your Traffic in the general options to have the Ground Aircraft slider above 0, and you set the traffic to not have generic model for the AI traffic turned off, the sim will spawn random aircraft model to the parking spots and the gate. This is not necessarily model matching, it’s just a coincidence that the sim spawns a random aircraft model and it picked up the MD from your library of installed aircraft and put them on the parking spot.
If you install the free AI Manager – Alpha India Group (alpha-india.net) you can actually get rid of all the boxy aircraft and replace them with a more realisticially shaped airline models and livery. So even on a randomly placed ground aircraft in the parking and gates, you also get model matching with the Live Traffic and your Vatsim network.
Thanks for the reply! I have all in-game traffic settings to 0. This was from vatsim. Another player flying a md88
In that case the vatsim player data had the sim to fetch your maddog aircraft and renders it using the model. You don’t really need model matching software or anything, as long as the traffic data is feed with a specific aircraft model (regardless of its source), the sim will automatically renders any matching data and the aircraft inside your library. If it can’t find it, it will render using the generic boxy aircraft model (or sometimes a random one too).
