ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:

Since updating to the latest Sim Update 4 Beta 1.6.16.0, the throttle lever on the VelocityOne Flight stick becomes inactive after the first few minutes of flight or whilst sitting idle, taxiing etc.

The input curve on the controller setup options page shows the throttle lever is detected by the SIM but it stops translating into moving the throttle lever. This happens no matter the aircraft.

This issues was present in SU4 1.6.13.0 but was not present in the last few updates until today.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?

This issue occurred in previous beta builds but happens every time I launch the simulator and go into Free Flight.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Launch Flight Simulator on Xbox Series X ensuring a Turtlebeach VelocityOne Flightstick is connected.

  2. Load into Free Flight, selecting any aircraft

  3. Start the flight and wait a few minutes into the flight to notice the throttle lever on the left hand side of the flight stick is not recognised for input even though every other button works still and the input and it’s range of motion is recognised in the controller config screen.

YOUR SETTINGS

If the issue still occurs with no mods and add-ons, please continue to report your issue. If not, please move this post to the User Support Hub.

What peripherals are you using:

[PC Only] Are you using Developer Mode or have you made any changes to it?

[PC Only] What GPU (Graphics Card) do you use?

[PC Only] What other relevant PC specs can you share?

MEDIA

Please add a screenshot or video of the issue occurring.

I had this exact issue with my VelocityOne Flighstick too. It turned out that for some reason two functions had been bound to the throttle axis. Could be worth checking. If you go into control settings, then ‘search by input’, and move the throttle, it should show anything bound to it. Delete anything that isn’t throttle axis.

I’ve had this issue with the Velocity One Yoke when trying to assign multiple throttle axes to one lever, for example, for 4 engine aircraft like the RJ and B-2 Spirit. I wonder what the correct way to bind them would be

This is a new bug that crawled in SU4 and it is really annoying. Multiple engine assigments on a single throttle still work on SU3, but in the latest beta it still dosent

Having this happen in SU3 and worse in SU4 now on PC. Exact same issue. Not been able to rectify.

I have reason to believe that this issue isn’t exclusive to just the VelocityOne hardware. I’m suffering from what I believe is the same bug with my VKB stick, plus I’ve seen other posts mentioning this issue with Saitek hardware.

Personally, this issue only started occurring for me after updating to SU4.

As others have said, the throttle seems to randomly stop working. The throttle axis in the controls is still mapped correctly and viewing the sensitivity of it within MSFS 2024 still shows it mapping correctly and smoothly. The same goes for the Windows game controllers calibration screen and also my VKB software.

To clarify, my hardware isn’t the issue. It only happens whilst in an aircraft in this sim.

Every game (MSFS 2024 included) and tool correctly reports the throttle inputs with no issue. It’s strictly an issue with SU4 whilst in an aircraft. No other bindings–axis or buttons–on my hardware seem to be affected.

I can temporarily fix it by going in to the controls, deleting the throttle axis binding and reassigning it. Then when I unpause, it then starts to work again but typically stops working within seconds. Rince and repeat.

I did notice that in career mode, the small objective tips in the corner were telling me to lower the throttle with “F” to slow down. That particular objective kept alternating its flashing of green and grey, which would imply something like a constantly-repeating input. I double-checked my keyboard to make sure it wasn’t a dodgy “F” key, but hopefully that constant flickering/spamming sheds some clues.

Issue is still persistent - anyone been able to resolve?

Im also having something similar with Thrustmaster throttle quadrant

Issue summary – MSFS 2024 Xbox Series X / Thrustmaster TCA Throttle Quadrant

  • Aircraft: Default CJ4

  • Mode: Career Mode (VIP missions)

  • Platform: Xbox Series X

  • Hardware: Thrustmaster TCA throttle quadrant + yoke

  • Problem appeared after the last sim update

  • No control bindings were changed

Symptoms:

  • Throttle 1 → Engine 1 works normally

  • Throttle 2 → Engine 2 does not respond to physical axis input

  • Engine 2 responds correctly to:

    • Mouse input

    • Xbox controller throttle increase/decrease buttons

  • All other buttons and controls work correctly

  • Mapping Engine 2 to Throttle 1 still results in Engine 2 not responding

  • Suggests sim is ignoring physical axis input for Engine 2

Thank you for the bug report.

We have created an internal ticket to see if our team already has this logged, and if not they will attempt to reproduce the issue and create a new bug report. This item is now marked as feedback-logged. If there is an existing bug report or one is created, we will move this thread to bug-logged.
