I searched high and low for help on a Turtle Beach Velocity One Flight Universal Control System (Flight Yoke) Elevator/Pitch Axis not working. Every other topic imaginable seems to surface, but nothing but calibration issues on the Elevator/Pitch Axis. I finally found a partial solution (near the problem I ran into) where the Elevator/Pitch Axis doesn’t register at all on MSFS2020 (Xbox One). All of the buttons and other axes work just fine.
This same problem would occur in PC, as well, I’m sure, if the hardware designs are the same.
Turtle Beach doesn’t seem to acknowledge the problem, but assuming that is a true statement they definitely should be made aware because a lot of people like me have been bashing them for dysfunctional hardware with no proper support. Now that I found the root cause of the problem I wanted to make a post to help anyone else having problems. There are two related problems that have the same failure mode.
Long Flat Magnet out of place; reposition to its proper/apparent location and it suddenly works fine. Or there’s the issue I ran into, where my magnet was fixed in place and seemed to be positioned up against its angled wall which just changes the distance from the sensor board linearly along the elevator axis.
Sensor board & attached spring-loaded slider assembly dislodged from its groove; this was my issue, beneath the attached sensor board, is a spring loaded set of plastic parts that are supposed to ride in a fairly thick/depth groove. There is a fair amount of engagement, but I can see that shipping loads could easily be the culprit to compress the spring and allow the assembly to dislodge itself from the track like mine did. I popped it back into the groove and everything worked right away. I do have an awkward problem where the center of the axis is nowhere near center, and adjusting the sensitivity can awkwardly be re-established with the dead-zone, but this isn’t a definite solution yet.
Either way, I took some pictures in case anyone is interested. I found the partial solution/direction from an obscure reddit post with very little activity.
