Hi All
I tried that but still no joy fro me I’m afraid
Oh this is all screwed up. I’m not even getting the new splash screen now. I’m resigned to waiting for the next update in the hope that it will all become right
The LocalCache folder isn’t in the main MSFS folder, it’s in the WpSystem folder.
I also have a disappointing crash to the desktop issue with version 1.16.2.0. All seemed to go well with the 5.75 GIB download to my usual and correct location for the sim –S:\NEWFOLDER\SIMINST. I had renamed my Community folder to allow the sim to create a new one which it did. I have left it empty.
After the installation was complete, it CTD the first time I restarted. On the second restart, I made it to the main menu/ profile and content manager. All it showed not installed were the 27 Aviator Club repaints which I had elected not to install. At this point, it crashed to the desktop again.
I have the Premium Deluxe Version with all the aircraft and airports. I have only 2 Carenado planes added, the C182 and the Arrow III.
Other possible notes of influence: When the sim starts, though the sim announces the new version 4, the screenshots are all the same with Paris, 3 Bespoke Airports, 109 Points of Interest, 10 Building Archetypes . . . Checking for updates comes through and passes with no pause. It is as though it partially updated. I am using a PC with Windows 10. No Xbox and plans to use it.
Hopefully, we will have a hotfix soon.
Thanks!
Hi all. If you are running “ToolKit” (Seagate backup system), take it off your startup menu, or end the processes, reboot your computer and try the sim. Toolkit was the source of my sim doing exactly what is described in this thread. Taking it down/turning it off, and all is well with MSFS2020.
Thanks for the suggestion on the Seagate Backup System - Toolkit. I have the Seagate Dashboard but it is Disabled. Maybe another backup system - I’ll check.
During the livestream interview with the Asobo team earlier this week, I heard one of the developers mention that they rely very heavily on user’s CTD telemetry data that MS provides to them. Here’s a good example of where I think “Big Brother” is not a bad thing.
I noticed when my sim stopped inexplicably yesterday afternoon while trying to use the -fastlaunch, the reliability monitor stated that it had sent back error report data to MS.
There is literally a limitless number of PC configurations out there running MSFS. Without very specific information regarding the exact conditions in which simmers experience their issues, it’s essentially like trying to find a needle in a haystack for the programmers to trouble-shoot and isolate. And then when we introduce words like, “It doesn’t happen all of the time”, or “It is intermittent”, well you get the picture!
Personally, I am somewhat relieved that MS provides Asobo more useful and meaningful info. than we typically provide them.
Hi All
New on here. Just wanted to share my experiences of SU4.
I updated to 1.16.2.0 on Thursday. Immediately after updating I tried a very short test flight. All seemed perfect. Today instead when I try open FS from scratch for the first time since the update I get a black screen and a few seconds later a CTD.
Windows and MS Store and Nvidia drivers are all up to date. The problem does seem to be related to navigating the intro screens on launch.
Raised issue with Zendesk and they asked me to try skip the intro using a Fastlaunch command. No joy, same CTD. This is the first CTD I’ve encountered in what has been a smooth FS experience to date.
I’ll keep you posted on how I progress with Zendesk.
Thanks to all and especially WalllessMage51 for the thought on the Seagate backup system which I don’t have (though I used to a long time ago) and the idea to disable my own backup program, EaseUS Todo Backup Free 13.0. Using Task Manager - Startup, I did disable it. Though the FS update does not splash correctly nor is the Content Manager right, I am able to fly the sim! Two tries with no CTD.
It seems that several of us are in the same boat. I’ll try the Fastlaunch to see whether it solves the problem for me. I’m glad that the zendesk knows about it. I’m in an agony of not knowing what is causing it
Nope. The FastLaunch didn’t work for me. I’m not even getting the splash screen now. This is infuriating.
I’m the same. No splash screen. It’s just a black blank screen and then cuts off .
Someone please help with this ?
Update
Hi I phoned Microsoft.
I ended up uninstalling the game and couldn’t reinstall from the Microsoft store. The guy on the phone advised me to download the windows iso file which I did or he did as he took control of my computer. That’s all he did. He also uninstalled my bullguard anti virus software before he installed the iso file. This has allowed me to reinstall the game.
My MSFS is working again.
Hope this helps. Any more issues I would phone Microsoft.
Thanks
He told me the 3rd party anti virus software was stopping it. So again maybe uninstall third party anti virus software as he said windows defender is enough and the download the windows iso file
I hope this helps everyone
Delete the ROLLINGCACHE.CCC file manually. Then start MSFS and don’t modify its size in game (8 GB). SInce I did this everthing works for me. Without reinstalling anything.
Hi Tony
That didn’t work for me. I uninstalled bull guard and downloaded the iso file but am not sure what do with it. Also tried ringing MS but pointed me to support on line.
Sooo things are still a problem for me
That’s a shame.
I rang 0344 800 2400. They should take your call.
Hope you get it sorted.
Problem solved I think. I completely uninstalled BullGuard and the sim is now preforming a complete install. What a pain…. But it looks as though I’m good to go again
After the new screen I did get a message “something went wrong.” But left it and after a couple of minutes it started up normally.
Excellent. Good to hear.
