Version 1.16.2.0 crashes to desktop after new launch screen

The new launch screen is displayed. After the whole screen goes black for a number of seconds, then the start up crashes to desktop. I have the latest windows version installed; cleared the community folder before updating; and am running 457.30. All help will be appreciated

Mine crashes as soon as I hit the ready to fly button

Wait … theres a new launch screen?

what version of the sim are you running guys ? store or steam ? I have had no new launch screen since the latest update the other day.

Why do you not try running 466.47 drivers. Drivers are updated for a reason. I have no problems whatsoever with this latest update and even getting the best FPS I have ever had. :grinning:

I need to update this…last update works well until I use FSTramp, then CTD. 1 step forward 3 steps back.

I’m the same. When I launch the game it shows up the initial load page goes black after that and just cuts off back to the desktop.

I have installed all latest drivers and uninstalled and I’m trying to reinstall and it’s still doing the same thing. My PC is more than powerful enough to run the game. For it I got my game on the Microsoft store.

Can someone please help?

Thanks Tony you describe exactly what is happening with me. I have tried multiple uninstalling and reinstalling, I’ve changed drivers, I’ve updated windows but nothing gets me past that blank screen after the new initial loading screen. It’s very frustrating.

……. Incidentally after the big 6.6gig download it allowed me to load and play and to download the additional updates. It wasn’t until next day when I tried to start from scratch and saw the new start screen that I started to get these crashes

Hi me too. Are there any moderators on here who could help us please ?

This is very frustrating. I have updated windows also. I don’t think I can do anything else.

Thanks

Exactly what happened to me. I used to start FS by “Run as Admin”. Now I have to clear 4 popups and it eventually leads to a permissions error. If I double click or start from the store, it gives me a new start screen and it will then start up. I did suffer my first CTD during a flight after this startup. But same with me. No issues on update day. Only the next day

Interesting! I’m having the same problem when trying to run as admin. Keep getting a permissions error.

Hi, I have the same issue, did all what is recommended but no success. Any help / ideas would be great.

Yes, therein lies the rub, as they say -
After installation of the new launch screen, you can no longer run the simulator as administer from the right-click context menu.

If you haven’t already been following it, there is a more complete thread including launching as administrator here:

Finally! SU4 added a Splash Screen! - Community / General Discussion - Microsoft Flight Simulator Forums

I had a similar issue - splash screen, followed by black screen, followed by ctd. I removed the contents of the local cache folder, and now it works.

Hi how do you do this please ?

I uninstalled and deleted all files to try but the same thing is happening with the CTD. I Re installed on the Microsoft store but I only have the two folders that have been created and there is nothing in them. I think when I start the game this is where all the things will be downloaded but I can’t get into the game.

Where is the local cache folder located ?

Many thanks

Tony

It does appear that it’s something to do with where the files were installed and where the program goes to look for them on startup.

As mentioned before, after the 6.6gig download I pressed the play button and it took me into the problem successfully without seeing the new splash screen.

The following day I tried to start and it displayed the splash screen then crashed. It’s as though that initial part of the start is looking for the rest of the files and can’t find them.

I had the same problem. The new startup screen appeared, the monitor got full black and then CTD. Solution: Set in the Taskmanager in Autostart the Xbox App Services to “active”.
Now the problem seems to be gone…

See my post, I just made.
