Very abrupt weather (wind) transition. Erratic wind behavior (Still present after AAU 1)

Yes, this appears to be exactly what’s happening

Those old data issues made them completely change weather system to METAR :frowning: If they only had listened to your specific issue reports we would still have the release weather but with fixed data from Meteoblue. To me it’s a bit too late to fix that. There is so many issues since su7 to me.

I think the high frequency update problem has been somewhat improvement, but now I’m still getting 65knots to 95knots back to 65 knots transitions at least 5, 6 times during a 2 hours flight.

Yes, unfortunately this issue still exists and has not been resolved despite both SU10 and SU11 beta having “smoother weather transition” as their general notes of improvements! Hope Asobo fixes the abrupt changes in wind speed and direction …

just nearly crashed over the atlantic with a jetsream, really not fun

I just had 4x within 10min. Greetings from Rollercoaster tycoon

It’s so ridiculous and awful. All those horrible bugs that came into the game with SU7 haven’t even been touched for 12 months now. The weather is ruined and a shadow of itself. For all time, I give it up.

Why did they say it was fixed!? I think I’ve read in the SU11 release note that (FINALLY) Metar transitions would take 1 minute to smoothly apply and they were updated every 10 minutes…
On short final, just had the weather abruptly switch from relatively sunny to fully cloudy, thus completely changing also the ambiance around, which sinked from sunny to Transilvania. I’ve actually never experienced such an abrupt transition before.

Definitely not fixed. I was at 250kts on approach at 8,000ft when suddenly the winds jumped to 290kts.

In Airbus the abrupt wind change can ruin your flight. Because the autopilot in Airbus will deactivate if the aircraft feels it’s unstable and a catalyst for this a lot of time is the abrupt weather changes.

Just had the issues at FL370 north of spain

Dropped altitude … and sudden change of wind so loosing a lot of speed

Edit -

Followed by an overspeed alt increase 5 mins later … pffff

Luckily the PMDG handles ok … but the CRJ for example has lits of trouble ( no A/T )

Edit 2 -

And again neer border France - Belgium

Tjeeez assibo

Yes, it’s a plague at the moment. Along with the popping haze bells.

It is to cry for. What a shame :sob: :sob:

I don’t know if within the scope of the topic, but flying GA at low altitude is a roller coaster ride. Extreme turbulence almost everywhere. Yes, yes, yes I know, turbulence exists in real life, but man, not like that. I’ve flown GA a few times and it is far (way far) from that horror show which is the wind and turbulence depiction in MSFS right now. Asobo REALLY needs to pull their stuff together and put some serious work on the wind and turbulence model. The ONLY thing I’ve enjoyed after this update was the glider taking advantage of thermals, and it ends there.

Some weird wind thing happened about 10mins ago on the hour - was on final approach into YMHB in the Fenix. Metar was showing winds 155@20kts, however in sim the winds just kept increasing at about 8nm from the airport and reached 140kts with me being completely sideways on final. I switched off real weather, plane dropped out of the sky and my VA flight was a complete write-off.

Exactly same issue for me on approach to KLAS wond showing 50@16kts wind massively hit me then i lost speed and then stalled i couldnt get it back and crashed… what have they done to this sim?

These things are caused by data issues, something that’s been plaguing the sim for a very long time now.

Just curious if there’s any traction with the development team on getting this fixed. It sounds like I’m not the only one having issues with the winds in GA aircraft. Its basically making the sim unusable for GA aircraft. I’m an actual pilot and if the weather was actually this bad, I wouldn’t fly and I’ve flown in much worse than a 14 kt wind 10 deg off centerline. It sounds like the developers are taking the position that its right, you’re wrong, learn to fly or go find something else. A real bummer. :frowning:

The feedback-logged tag means the dev team is trying to reproduce this issue in order to fix it.
I think it’s quite easy to reproduce. It probably happens during major NWP model runs, last time I’ve experienced it was a few days ago above the Czech Republic at 2255Z and 2300Z (back and forth).

17:00z is also a time that this happens

Actually we don’t know what the developers think about this issue because there’s no direct acknowledgment from them. I’m starting to think their team is very thin at this time.

I expect that wasn’t helped by the fixed deadline for the 40th Anniversary update, they’ve probably been under a lot of pressure these last few months.

Hopefully now there aren’t any ‘crunches’ they will have much more free time
