Very abrupt weather (wind) transition. Erratic wind behavior (Still present after AAU 1)

I didn’t notice any issues on Wednesday like we had on Tuesday. Have the issue resolved?

No still happens daily

Notice the time of the rapid change, at exactly 2300Z (0000 local time). It also happens 5 minutes prior, and also at 1700Z as @Perrry has mentioned.
To me it seems like the sim gets injected with new weather data (wind dir, speed, ambient air pressure) and instead of it being a slow progressive change, it just happens rapidly.

EDIT: I wouldn’t categorize this issue as the same as people have been experiencing when on final approach or while taking off. That issue sounds like faulty data being injected into one of the many vertical layers the sim has. Only my opinion though. I sincerely hope the devs find out what exactly is behind all of this.

They could add a variable at those times that makes the wind increase or decrease slowly. Like between 16:45z-17:15z the winds can’t change suddenly. The times of updates are known. But the reported wind are not.

I’m not sure about the final approach. Maybe it’s when METAR data is not injected properly. I know it has been reports of those changes at the same time but at different locations. My suggestions for those is to have a limit to how much the difference of those winds can be. Like it’s very unrealistic to have winds that goes from 3KTS to 150KTS suddenly. Final approach is tricky. But those doesn’t happening every single day. It’s a much more rare thing.

Exactly. Back in the FS2002/2004 days, FSUIPC had this built in. I’m not sure if it still does.

Not sure either. Hope they find something that works and at the same time feels realistic.

That’s the weird thing.

They supposedly added a 1 minute transition time to weather updates in SUXI. The rapid change shouldn’t be happening now whether the loaded weather is erronious or not.

Yes, it’s strange. i have not experienced that type of sudden change in wind speed at final approach since su11 though.

I only tell my thoughts about it  I report as soon as i experience it at final approach. I will note time too. It could happen at final approach at 17:00Z too. Sometimes we are at final approach at that specific time.

Well we reported the proper temporal fading as not fixed during the beta. The thread was tagged with feedback-logged then shortly before the release the tag was removed without explanation.

https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/30-proper-temporal-fading-over-1-min-when-new-data-arrives/549378/18

After the release the related thread about weather transitions not smooth since SU7 was tagged as fixed-on-live and locked before anyone got a chance to confirm.

The abrupt weather transitions remain.

What the hell? How is that possible? :anger:

Dear Asobo,

Thanks to your appalling weather transitions I now have a method by which to check the accuracy of my watch every hour…

Turbulence is good, but thunderstorms needs an complete overhaul ( animations & texturing ), rain & snow also. We also miss in cloud turbulence and momentarily due ro incorrect winds ( aprubt transitions) makes landing impossible / banking left to right during ils final approach, no matter what kind of plane.

It is so buggy these days. Please fix this annoying issue, but do not remove turbulence and „ natural“ gusts of wind. Momentarily mostly unplayable with this issue.

The wind in certain situation is overdosed and reflects not nearly how it is in real life. After two years, it could and must be better done. Weather is the basic in a flight sim. I know how it is in real life flying, but i don’t know how it shoud be in a sim to have the mix between desktop flying and real life feelings.

This issue now crashed the last two flights I did with Live Weather in the 737.

The wind shifts from 70kn tailwind to 40kn headwind in a second causing the plane to overspeed and destroying it within seconds.

Please fix the live weather! Flying with a weather preset is boring.

I find the live weather transitions really dramatically weird. Flying along in CAVOK wind from the East, and then next minute there’s a miraculous cloud bank and stronger westerlies…

There are other threads for that issue: METAR keeps disrupting the weather/ bugged weather/Cumulus/CB clouds only/no medium to high cloud coverage
Haze Layer Still shows up Abruptly

yes, thanks, but the wind change was why I pointed it out

I think the solution btw IRL conditions and “desktop” conditions could hopefully be solved with a respective switch similar to the assists. People not wanting real life weather sim would just switch it off or setting it to “easy”. Both sides win.
Personally I am also for a more correct weather sim and can concur with many of the above mentioned issues.

I think the point is that there is currently no correct weather in the sim.

The wind switching from 70kn tailwind to 40tn headwind in a second that happens in the sim does not happen in reality.

Nearly fell out of the sky today as wind changed from 57 kts on the nose to 114 kts from the right, then back to 62 from the front and again up to 117 kts from the right, which it remained and gradually reduced in the approach. Vicinity of EKDAP in FL400.
