I just had it happen flying from KCLT - KIND. Was cruising along at M.78 in the A320, 7:00PM eastern hit and the winds immediately shifted, aircraft shot up to M.89 in less than a second and got turned basically sideways at FL340. About 7:01PM the winds shifted again and plane dropped down to M.65. Back at .78 now…
The wind in altitude is completly broken most of the Time !
I don’t understand how this bug doesn’t have more votes. Not just for the sudden wind shifts, but the general overall inaccuracy of upper winds.
Here is an example from my flight right now.
Point RUSEM the weather data should be: WIND: 260/33 SAT: -72
Actual weather in MSFS: WIND: 250/86 SAT: -54
As you can see the data in MSFS is incorrect.
MSFS is having constant connection issues, it seems that live weather is affected as well, the world map looks like it has old data… once again.
The world map has sadly had old data all the way through the SU9 beta, it’s been marked as ‘feedback logged’ on the topic ‘live weather data issue - weather is 48+ hours old’
It seems this old data is also impacting the upper winds.
I wonder when they will take the time to fix those data issues. Those upper winds METAR can’t help fixing.
Data issues it has been all the time since release of this sim.
Still an issue into SU9… honestly I doubt they will ever fix this bug.
Yep, this is still happening for me too. Makes the game practically unplayable for me to be honest. I’m not willing to risk potentially hours of time commitment just for this to happen and ruin a flight.
15C is not possible at FL350/380, thats ISA+70 or something .
Edit: sorry, didn’t saw this is a very old topic.
Ok after several wweks I see the problem now
They read the METAR data wrong
the part after the RMK (Remark) contains the numbers 10089, this is interpreted by MSFS as windspeed 89 knts at 100 degrees, exactly as shown in FSKNEEBOARD.
But this is total wrong, those numbers after the RMK are not Windspeed.
This METAR didn’t contain any information about the actual windspeed at this airport.
OMG they didn’t get the METAR reading task right.
If that’s true, that’s really scary. How can they implement METARs into the weather system if they can’t even decode them properly.
Brutal flight today (CYQY - CYYZ). The plane was getting whacked all over the place by extreme wind changes in direction and intensity as, I’m guessing, new METAR was injected. Ruined the enjoyment big time.
These wind and pressure changes are an absolute joke. When will Asobo wake up and actually fix this? Forget about Topgun and all your other additional content and actually FIX THE SIM first.
Once again, I had this same issue!! And there was long ago since this had not happened, on my flight from GCLP to EDDM it has happened over 3 times and i nearly stalled out on one of them! Asobo, please make weather changes smooth, not sudden, this makes the sim with real-life weather unplayable!!
The thing I notice with the upper winds, today in the above screenshots for example, is the winds are switching between wind direction and speed which is correct, and wind directions and speeds which are wrong. I suspect it’s switching between current and old data.
Once again, a data issue with live weather as we see in so many aspects of it now.
another Q&A session and no answer about this bug who ruin the immersion ! I ask for more than 6 mounth now and no information. This bug ruin totaly the immersion and i don’t understand why weather are not the priority here ! That is true that weather in aeronautique is not important. Hop one day we can make flight without killed undred people in that ridiculous wind bug in our virtual plane !!!
Sure it wasn’t the massive storm we had in Ontario the other day? Was very extreme (9 dead).
They’ve refused to open up weather to third parties. Therefore, IMO, they MUST make weather an absolute priority.
There was a period of about a week or two after I was getting extreme wind direction changes that things seemed to have settled down, but the extreme transitions are back. I get a minimum of two to three on my flights, which are anywhere from an hour to two and a half hours, flying the crj. I actually got a couple nasty transitions on my Twin Otter flight today. I don’t care if the wind/pressure changes somewhat, but it at least needs to be seriously smoothed out.
This week I have experienced this wind shift take place at exactly the same time every day, 17:00z, at this time the winds shift and load in to be correct.
