had the same problem.
bought a Reverb g2 latest model two weeks ago.
happy as can be now.
quest is ok but not perfect with mfs2020.
Turn ASW off and change pixel override to 1.4 (both in ODT). Donât choose ultra clouds, fps killer. One of the biggest things for me is to do a wifi router restart before I start msfs, I get much higher mbps after restart and things run smoother. I wouldnât change anything in Nvidia control panel, tried all settings and increasing or decreasing doesnât make a big difference for me
Best piece of advice I ever followed on this forum was to sell my Quest 2 and buy a Reverb G2. If youâre in any way serious about VR in FS2020 the G2 is the headset to go for. I got a Quest 2 pretty much this time last year and I will never get back the hours and hours spent trying to get that headset to work satisfactorily with the sim. The G2 is just in another league when it comes FS, in terms of quality, performance and ease of set up.
I can totally get why the Quest 2 is so popular. Its cheaper and if youâve got other family members you share it with and you just want a VR headset for general gaming then it does make sense to own one but I would never recommend one purely for FS.
to break it down. Iam also with 3090, but amd ryz 5800 but i think âhigher endâ master race here. I have twerked around so much with my system and my Quest 2 and just before´Update 5 pushed in i had a very smove and clear xperience with msf2020. Very immersive in high to ultra settings. I enjoyed every flight as i was really there. but⌠Much help came from here and also from pie in the sky tours from utube. Within the last update (5) my smoveness is there but i even cant read my CAS in the tbm cockpit. Get known that : first in one year msf⌠hang on⌠there will be a next update. Sdecond: try pie in the sky tours last Quest 2 video. third: hang on -_-
Edit: in one year msf there was so may times i even want to give up thinking that cant be it with that system. But i had so many incredible flights also. the Quest 2 is a very good headset that works prop well. But sometimes u have to accept that you cant do anything⌠there updates from Asobo from oculus and nvidia. But every time i just wanted to fligh and get an immersive flight. and mostly it worked. Stay within the latest updates (check beta in oculus software) Take the cable! airlink works also but only with Wlan 6. But cable gives your headset extra power for long flights! I just flew around the world with the tbm. Every time in real time/weater. And you see the world as it is (based on satmaps from lastyear ;D) but its great. give me pm maybe we can twerk something out. You will love it.
I bought a G2 during Black Friday sale for 399.00. It is super nice in Aerofly 2 but is really glitchy in MSFS. I put it back in the box. It awaits a day to come back out after I see people with real success.
I do use the Valve index, not as sharp as HP was, but runs super smooth using the Steam VR interface. and has a wider field of view, less like using a periscope to fly with.
You can read tons of posts with people having trouble with the HP G2s⌠So I donât see that as the answerâŚ
You do need to adjust settings down in VR from a flat monitor, but it is so much more realistic to fly in VR instead of a computer flat panel.
Hopefully they will get it working better, or machines in the future will be better at itâŚ
I am only running a 2080TI and I9. I was going to buy a new pc with 3090, but read many articles with people having issues with all sorts of high end machinesâŚ
I have a very good experience with Reverb G2 using Open XR rather than Steam VR, and especially Open XR Developer Tools for WMR.
My system is similar to yours. Iâve been very happy with my VR experience and Quest 2. Very immersive. Also a PP in real life and it feels like I am back in the cockpit of my old 172 (N7994G)!
It took me a lot of testing to get it where it is now. I put together a short (2min) video showing my results and also the settings I have in Oculus desktop, OTT and OXR. (I forgot the screen shot, but I am also using the NIS tool described in this thread. .8 and .5)

I thought OpenXR is bundled with the Oculus app already on the quest 2 so is there a need to install separately.
Struggling in city areas either that or turn settings down in msfs.
It is part of the Oculus App so no download needed. Just make sure it is set as the default OpenXR runtime or else SteamVR will be tied to it,
