Sorry to hear about your issues.
The download speed problem does not necessarily sound like MSFS is the sole problem.
E.g. there were cases where the ISP has throttled the connection, see e.g.:
[Bug Logged] Very low download speeds & frequent "Package Failed" messages .
Searching the forums and looking at posts in this topic may help with troubleshooting.
If you want to troubleshoot there are some things you can try, as the problem you are having does not seem to be very widespread.
