Because MSFS 2020 is a flight simulator for all people, the flying environment for more people must be close to reality.
For real pilots, or student pilots, maybe a few insturment without a complicated external view is more important.
MSFS 2020 had to make a balance between them. But for many people one of the two is more important. Which one is more important to you?

both, because both can already be done quite accurately (or as realistically as current consumer desktop hardware and software tech allow) in other flight sims such as prepar3d and xplane. therefore I expect MSFS 2020, the self-proclaimed next-gen home desktop flight sim, to do the same too.

There are already several well sorted simulators that can do the IFR side, the one(s) whose name(s) cannot be spoken, and also a few professional instrument trainers that have little or no ‘outside’ view at all.
What MSFS brings to us is a really high fidelity ‘world’ in which to fly. This lends itself to VFR or just plain sightseeing. Back in the day, I used the very first satellite scenery for FSX to do VFR navigation practice. My real world flying days are long gone, so for me, the main importance of MSFS is sightseeing!
And all you real world GA pilots out there know very well what IFR stands for

IFR,
I Fly with Respect, it’s my rule for this

What does IFR have to do with the sim? You can’t fly on instruments now?
Si. We can fly IFR. I just want to ask if we would like more IFR precision, or more world improvement. Surely one will affect others.
@ FarMash
What IFR precision you mean?
If you mean that no existing racetracks/holding patterns over fix/nav I can definitelly be without them in Garmins. Next IFR functionality is enough for me to enjoy it.
Internationnal Flight Rescue ?
Both:
IFR with VATSIM and the Aerosoft CRJ 700.
VFR with the TBM 930.

Casual simmer here, fly no longer than 30 minutes, 50% VFR flying, 50% tuning VR settings

IFR precision in Flight Simulator is not only about instrument functionality, but also about stable aircraft behavior when we use the controls. Certainly, this is in relation with scenery complexity and therefore I ask which type of flight is important for you: Scenery complexity in VFR flight or airplane behavior in IFR flight.
This sim was made for VFR, and that’s my primary focus.
IFR flights are fun too but less thrilling by far; that’s either about the procedure or the view while chilling on autopilot.
VFR is for feeling yourself as part of the air, between the worlds of ground and sky. It’s a liminal space, full of magic and possibility!

Or making coffee and putting the washing on while on autopilot.
IFR is challenging and can be fun but is not really flying.

In VFR flight, for a student pilot, the accuracy of the place he / she is flying is important because he / she can find this accuracy very helpful in real flight for orientation and to find important waypoints. I used this positive point myself at MSFS 2020 and that is really helpful and indispensable.

Because of MSFS 2020 precise pictures, I know many places in the whole world that I have never met and flight in truth, better than my city that I live in it!

I was hoping to do more IFR, but the semi-transparent clouds(ground visible even when 1,000 ft higher than OVC ceiling) / missing visibility controls & lacking/buggy Garmin GNS had me stay with X-Plane for IFR and MSFS for casual VFR.
This sim has tons of potential, but almost 10 months now waiting for features that should’ve been included at release according to their pre-release videos (Visibility / RVR settings/sliders, volumetric fog)

I prefer IFR, even when I’m flying GA… which is always. I use Pilot2ATC for IFR. I’ve been doing more VFR lately tho, since I have to keep my flights short to avoid CTD now.
