Has anybody managed to run FS2024 with a Virpil CM3 throttle ? If I start the program with the throttle plugged in it crashes as soon as I press “Start”. If the Sim is started without the throttle plugged in, it starts fine, as soon as I plug the Throttle in, USB, it CTDs. It works fine in FS2020.
I cant work out if I have a hardware/software problem or its a bug in FS2024
Updated the firmware with the Virpil utility, tried it plugged into USB 2 and 3 ports direct on the motherboard and to ports on the Case also through a powered hub. No difference, they all crash it. Weird
Sad thing is I reached out to Virpil support and got the following reply..
Unfortunately, our developers currently do not have the opportunity to test devices with FS2024, so we do not have information on this.
Also, unfortunately, I do not have any information when we will have such an opportunity. Perhaps experienced pilots on our forum will be able to help you. Sorry for the inconvenience. Have a nice day!
I have the same throttle and have had no crashes - sounds like a hardware issue if it crashes when you plug it in. Take a look in the calibration software and see if you have a ‘stuck’ input.
I do not have the CM3 Throttle, but do have the 50CM3 base and TCS Plus Base collective. I did find out the 50CM3 needed a firmware upgrade that was strangely causing the SharKa-50 grip on my collective from not working. Not really to your point exactly, more just a heads-up that I had issues as not all my Virpil gear had current firmaware.
Not sure if this next bit of info may have any relevance, but I also had issues with my cloud based MSFS-2024 profile data seemingly being corrupted. This directly causing me issues with controller configurator not working properly and in the end the sim was crashing just as I reach the yellow start button to get to the game menu.
In the end I found out how to delete the cloud based data for 2024 and that fixed the CTD’s and the glitches in the controller configurator. Just seems to me it might be viable that a similar problem may be related to the issue you are experiencing. Maybe even a long shot, but might be worth trying if you have not other ideas or options.
Important to know though that this command did reset my sim progress and any controller configs I had created.
First I repaired the reset the MSFS-2024 app in windows settings and did actually reinstall the sim… but these did not fix the issues I was experiencing. Clearing the cloud base data did though.
To do so you need to open a command prompt (I suggest as administrator) then entered the below command… IMPORTANT if you do this it is at your own risk. It solves my issues which was worth losing my progress and settings for.
If you were here I’d buy you a pint, coffee make a charity contributon of you choice. That worked I can now move onto setting up my Sim and get flying.
If there was the copy of a sticky for this solution it should be made.
