Virpil Collective and Hawk-60 Grip Major problem with Virpil Software Suit

Hi, to all you helicopter pilots

I have downloaded and installed the Virpil Software suit 6 times in total and tried 2 previous versions. PC Windows 11

I have set up and assembled the Collective+Grip combination in accordance with the manual. However, when I try to open the Virpil Software suit for callobration, firmware update and to check functionality the Virpil software shows Not Responding. It does not matter which version I have installed I get the same result. If I mouse click on any button or the app itself, the same happens.

I have created exception in my Anti-Virus/Firewall, launched in Administration mode, with and without the Collective plugged in. Made sure that I am using the correct USB port, and that it is a motherboard socket and not case mounted. I have followed the instructions received from Virpil Support to the letter, and made sure that I have no Corsair software installed (Known Issues.)

To make matters worse I have installed the software on my old Windows 10 gaming laptop and it WORKS!

Any help would be most appreciated.

Some things you can try:

  1. Go to Device Manager and in options turn on ‘View Hidden Devices’ - go in and delete everything under the USB section that is greyed out - the system creates a placeholder for the device you connected and then removed. Reboot after cleaning.

  2. Try different USB ports and different usb cables. There are differences in USB cable quality.

  3. Any software on the PC that is NOT on the laptop? Antivurus, remote connection, graphics utilities.

  4. Download free REVO uninstaller and use whenever you delete a program. This picks up on leftover regedit and system entries, files and folders that often get left behind. This can interfere with new installs - ie garbage leftovers prevents clean install or app working correctly.

You have something hidden but simple as the cause - I say this from hours and days tracking down thousands of bugs over the years. Good luck!

Thank you for the advice. My Gaming PC is less than a year old and is only used for MSFS 2024.

My antivirus software is identical to my Laptop. The same graphics utility.

I cannot swop out the USB cable because it has a dedicated connection at the hardware end. However, I have tried out every suitable USB port that is native to the motherboard, and not the case.

Is there a app prog I can install on my PC that will enable me to run the Virpil software through and check for error or whatever is the issue. For some reason my PC does not want to run the Virpil Software.

Спасибо, я зашёл на сервер Virpil Discord и скопировал свой
пост FS в раздел «Инструменты конфигурации».

Dont forget about looking at hidden usb devices in your Device Manager - that can absolutely do what is happening to you. If that doesn’t do anything then the advice to go to the Virpil channel on Discord is a good one - best way to get fast, ongoing and knowledgeable support. Good luck

I have posted in the Virpil Discord, but I not yet had any response. Also Windows USB Game controller sees the Virpil Collective and Grip and shows functionality in properties field.

I’d suggest contacting their support directly. I’ve found them very responsive.

Large exchange of emails at the moment. I am trying to figure it out with the Dev now, log files etc etc.

Still having issues with the app, but I have found a work round for the lack of Virpil App. As I said earlier the App worked on my windows 10 laptop so I created a profile, calibration and button function, then transferred the file to my gaming PC. Opened up 2024 created a helicopter control profife and success at last.

lol as old as I am, I still love hearing simple (albeit frustrating) fixes!

Windows 11 can be a bit quirky and 24H2 it’s somewhat buggy.

For testing purposes, please create a new standard user account (not an administrator).

Log in with this account, set up the system as needed and then check how Virpil software are working under that account.
