i think visible lighthouses will increse the sense of immersion, a standard 3d model will be good too just add them
Yes, and I’ve yet to see a single church, a barn or a castle! Office blocks in the middle of the countryside where it clearly should be a barn. The AI is good but has a long way to go!..
Let me add that lack of powerlines is also an issue, I could have used those for navigation in my area.
And also chimneys, some of which are the tallest buildings and have illumination for planes that you can see for tens of miles.
I am not complaining, just see that there are lots of things that could be added .. in the coming years .. when we all eventually have updated to 128 GB RAM
Actually I dont think adding a few powerlines and replacing inaccurate buildings with more appropriate ones will have much impact on frame rates. I cannot speak for anybody else but my sim is already displaying scenery at 100% density, most of which is buildings and trees.
Yes and no.
If you really think this to the end you would see so many more objects: haystacks, clothing lines, humans, cattle and so on and it all adds up to more memory.
This will certainly take off in the coming years but right now it is somewhat limited by the fact that only a minority of people have more than 16 GByte (which is also related to RAM prices which won’t budge since 2016)
@AndyXPO in Amsterdam, Netherlands the Westerkerk is modeled and set as POI. But that’s the only church I’ve seen so far
What about cows and windmills? It isn’t really Holland without them.
Also add the Batavia and 100,000 boats.
I know the Netherlands has excellent textures in Bing because I have seen them in Ortho4XP. So at least in that regard you are very lucky.
I’ve been doing a lot of flying in Austria and there are churches dotted around in every village. Not a single one is there in the sim! The AI can’t tell I guess!
Lots of windmills! But the new kind for power management, unfortunately not the old iconic ones. Hoping they’ll come in future updates, because they’re nice VFR points (some are reporting points IRL as well)
Even in my village in Germany we have a Dutch windmill. It’s not in use anymore but became a landmark and a restaurant.
Clothing lines and haystacks are not a VFR hazards but powerlines and tall masts are and have caused many nasty helicopter crashes over the years. This is the sort of missing feature I want to see.
Barnegat Light in New Jersey is a Jersey shore icon – there is nothing at all there in the sim, just empty ground.
So far - hand crafted items aside - I have found no tall structures, other than the aforementioned Wind turbines, that have obstruction lights either, so it’s not really a good idea to fly anywhere low level during anything but perfect lighting conditions. Even tall ATC towers and beacons on the airports themselves do not have hazard lights. I think Asobo need to read the regs, or at least Wikipedia.
