Visual Cues for Autopilot on/mode?

Stupid question maybe, but when I’m using the Garmin, is there any way I can see whether and which autopilot is activated? The buttons don’t light up and I don’t recognize anything helpful on the display. I always have to resort to mouse-over.

Hello,

f.ex/. on PFD is indication about AP ON/OFF, also in case of NAV/GPS navigation is ON then also typical infos are on PFD. Some general visual indications like CDI selection can simply point to which AP navigation option your AP will be/is set.

Hm, yeah, sorry, I ought to have specified I think. I was talking about the Garmin in the DA-40 for instance. I see the letters “AP” there but they’re lit regardless whether AP is on or off. But you’re right, the ALT mode is shown and the NAV mode, too (it’s ROL when nav is deactivated.)

Thank you for pointing me there!

The AP message should of course only be visible with the AP engaged.
Below is the bugreport I’ve sent.

Switching the AP OFF by clicking on the AP switch with the mouse, correctly disengages the AP.
The green AP ON message nevertheless stays on for 5sec.
After that, the message turns yellow and remains visible. No way to make it disappear.

IRL, the AP message should immediately turn yellow upon disengaging the AP.
Depending on the aircraft the yellow AP should either remain steady or flash on for 5sec, then disappear.

If you are using a keyboard command, a joystick button, or if you are overriding the AP to disengage it,
the green AP ON message stays on forever, regardless if the AP is ON or OFF.

Thank you. So it’s not entirely my fault.

Not to me,

if I turn off AP it shows red/white flash (DA62 stock) f.ex. question is what to set as turninig AP off

Maybe your DA62 is stock, but in this case you have another mod installed.
Definitely not happening with a vanilla MSFS install.

If you disengage the AP by pushing the button with the mouse you get at least a yellow AP symbol

Maybe,

therefore I said it’s important what you set with AP disconnection  I have stock DA62, only PA34 I have 3-rd party.

Again, once you disengage the AP, either the AP message stays green, or it turns yellow after 5sec, but in either case, the AP message will remain visible.

You don’t have a Garmin mod installed?

Ok, again for understanding… I didn’t say I click AP button, in this case I can maybe say it’s bug but I have red flashing indicator AP after my pressed button.

You still don’t understand, without a mod you don’t get a red flashing AP indicator on the DA62.

really I don’t know what to say and how much I need say this, I DON’T HAVE ADDON, I have stock DA62 and other airplanes only PA34 as addon. Read my message carefully, I didn’t press AP button!

Confirm your community folder is empty? If not, empty it and retry.

NO,

only Zinertek texture what have nothing to do with this. read again carefully - I didn’t press AP button to disengage AP therefore I have that correct indication as I have.

It doesn’t matter how you disengage the AP. On a vanilla MSFS install there’s no red flashing AP message on the DA62 (or any other Garmin equipped aircraft)

You’re wrong.

Try find relevant AP functionality tags which are existing. I can trust you’ll find something what i have defined and therefore I have on stock DA62 after disengage AP red/white flash AP indicator on PFD  now I started be woriing that I remember not well what I did

How do you disenage the AP? What command have you assigned?

I was check my AP bind in sim,

did start DA62 stock, set AP and disengage AP, here is screen:

I have bind - AUTOPILOT OFF with my button. It now flashing white/red

And it’s vanisishing after a few seconds?
