Vive pro 2 - fixed frame rate not working correctly?

I had a valve index and I would max out the settings and run it on ultra 100% render, at 20-30fps fixed frame rate in steam settings depending where I was flying and this worked great.

I got a vive pro 2 and I was excited to try out the newfound resolution, but of course I have the GPS in front of my eyes - fixed by resetting the panels, but more importantly, the fps is all over the place stuttering between different levels of reprojection.

Fixed frame rate does not seem to be working at all. Can someone else confirm this is the case with them? If it’s never going to work it’s really unplayable and a dealbreaker.

Did you turn on motion compensation in the Vive console software?

I did not, because I didn’t want their crappy motion smoothing replica, I just wanted old fashioned reprojection. Maybe to make fixed frame rate reprojection work I had to enable that? Doesn’t make much sense though.

Hmm for me the old school asynchronous/interleaved reprojection is forced on no matter what on the Vive Pro, which means I either get 22.5 or 30 or 45 or 90 fps in 90 Hz mode and nothing in between.

I still prefer motion compensation on because when you look to the side and down outside the window to spot ground objects it makes everything sharp and in focus without blurry mess. This is also crucial in combat flightsims such as DCS during ground attack maneuvers.
