vJoy device settings profile always reset to Tobii

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:
I manage some hardware’s axes re-mapping via vJoy. In MSFS24 the virtual vJoy device is identified as ‘vJoy Device’ and was automatically assigned a General controls profile ‘Tobii’. It is not possible to remove this profile, since the delete button is grayed out. I have created a new profile which I have set as default and applied to all aircraft. Additionally, I have added a new Airplanes Controls profile in which I have mapped rudder and brake axes, which I also set as default and applied to all aircraft.
These profiles are applied until I close the simulator. Whenever I restart the sim, the selected General controls profile is ‘Tobii’, the Airplanes controls profile is ‘None’ and the correct profiles have to be re-selected.
In MSFS2020 this issue does not occur.

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?

• Yes, but different.

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• I dont know why this isn’t in the Bug Reporting Hub

I have a similar issue, but slightly the inverse.

I have a vJoy device via AuthentiKit to convert the Bravo’s trim wheel into an axis that I assign to the elevator.

I notice that the vJoy device has a “Tobii” profile under the General category. This should not be, it isn’t a Tobii. This profile cannot be deleted.

I also have a Tobii. I made a custom profile for the Tobii, which I have set as default and applied to all aircraft.

However, every time I restart the sim, Tobii has reverted to the “Tobii” profile and not the profile I set as default. I have to manually select my profile every time I launch the sim. I cannot set my profile as default again, because that option is greyed out. I have to assume the sim already believes it to be the default, but the vJoy conflict(?) is maybe causing it to revert to the “Tobii” profile.

There is something awry with vJoy and Tobii and it is a bug that need to be fixed.

• yes

• exactly the same as by @NixonRedgrave explained.

  • As soon i deactivate my vJoy via Windows Device Manager my custom Tobii Profile is set as default again.

• Yes

• The VJoy profile is the only one that is affected by this. It is saved but will not set itself as default.

@CatMod-Bug-Report Can this be moved to bug reports?

Is that the same issue than reported here ?: MSFS2024 control binding interface is confused by multiple vJoy devices

No, I have only one vJoy device on my PC. It just won’t let you set a custom profile on it as default, reverting every launch to the blank (I think it’s blank?) Tobii profile.

On second glance, it seems like that poster is also experiencing this issue, but it’s not the main thing they are reporting.

It appears that three of us are reporting the same issue here that is, perhaps, different from the OP.

Should I generate some video showing the issue and repost it as an actual bug? It clearly is a bug and isn’t some user confusion.

Hello @NixonRedgrave,
We are getting some clarification about the vJoy software if it’s supported in MSFS to be filed as a bug. This may take some time due to the holiday break.

Thank you.

Am I to understand this may or may not be considered an unsupported utility hence the seeking clarification?

Correct. We just want to get it clarified. :slightly_smiling_face:

I too am getting similar binding problems. I do have vJoy installed, as its necessary to fix the poor trim wheel speeds on the Honeycomb Bravo. My problems are not with vJoy itself but with ALL controllers (Alpha, Bravo and Logitech Rudder Pedals). Like the OP I have profiles set up for controls for each yet everytime I restart the sim they are not loaded when choosing an aircraft previously configured to use said profile (reverts to the standard MSFS default profile). Pressing Use as Default fails to work on restart. Use on all Aircraft fails to work on sim restart. Sensitivity adjustments to rudders etc reset on sim restart, even selecting the correct profile manually shows default sensitivities. I have reinstalled the sim, in fact also wiped Windows 11 but nothing works. I had a post in the Bug Logged section but after 3 days not a single response so moved it into this section

Are folks still having this issue? It seems to have gone away for me despite no changes to my setup.

No, it’s still there. I tried deleting cloud saves, deleting all control mappings, and everything else I can think of. My single vJoy device still reverts to a blank Tobii whenever I switch planes or restart the sim.

Thank you for the bug report.
While vJoy is not an officially supported project, our team will still be investigating this as it could be a larger issue outside of vJoy itself.

We have created an internal ticket to see if our team already has this logged, and if not they will attempt to reproduce the issue and create a new bug report. This item is now marked as feedback-logged. If there is an existing bug report or one is created, we will move this thread to bug-logged.

You are right, is not something like “Thrustmaster Yoke” etc, but its incredible usefull or sometimes importend and needed … i use it to translatte a ‘joystick button’ to a mic ptt input key… and at the end: In MSFS 2020 vjoy just worked and didnt interfered with the complete controller setup inside the sim  … but also a big thank you for your support.
