Why are some VORs detected in the aircraft and others are not shown on the screen during the flight even if I select them in the NAV? The same happens in A320 as in PMDG 700. For example, if it detects the GRD VOR but not the ALT in a LEMG LEIB flight.
Maybe because of the distance? IRL not all VOR have the same receiving distance.
VOR is line of sight also. Meaning there must be no obstructions between it and your ac.
Buildings, trees, hills, mountians, etc.
Hmmmmmm. The GRD that’s just north of the IFR route between those airports is an ILS, not a VOR. ALT is a 100 watt VOR/DME which should be good for 40NM below FL180, 130NM from FL180 to 450, and 100NM above FL450 (unobstructed view of sky). (those are not always modelled correctly in the sim)
So a bit of strange results you’re seeing.

I had a look in Little NavMap but I couldn’t find the “GRD” VOR that you are referring to (I have only the MSFS scenery library enabled in Little NavMap, so I only see what’s in the game). Between Malaga and Ibiza there’s a “ALT” VOR that has a 38 NM range, but the closest VOR with the ident “GRD” is in Poland (the other two are in South America and the USA).
Edit: In case it isn’t clear, you need to be within the dark blue circle that’s centred on the ALT VOR in the image below in order to be able to receive it.
