Seeing around 20fps where it should be 36.
Can anyone please confirm?
Running VR Quest 3 (in 2024, SU2), with pretty low settings (see below). My PC Spec is in my profile. Even when just looking at pretty much empty water it chugs and GPU is at 100%.
No addons here, really. Mamu Marinas but it is not that IMO. I would say it is the trees (AGAIN!) as it does seem to be when trees are in view but there really are not many in Venice!
Must admit I have never tried running with Displacement Mapping off. It adds so much! Without that it’s basically 2020 (as I have animals and ships off already)! Haha.
I’ll try later tho at Venice again. Thanks for the reply!!
Interestingly your tip DID make a difference to smoothness in another photogrammetry city I was getting some small hiccups in (Pamplona, Spain - LEPP). Which begs the question: WHY DO THEY USE DISPLACEMENT MAPPING IN A PHOTOGRAMMETRY ZONE? You cannot displace the ground in photogrammetry, so it is loading up CPU workload for no reason?!
But it didn’t help at all near Venice. As soon as I look towards the city, my GPU is way over budget. Not even near the city (this is from the airport LIPZ on the main land).
I tried lowering most settings, even 10 LOD makes no difference. Tried lowering resolution (both in DLSS to Performance and from Godlike down to Ultra in VD with Foveated Rendering in the Sim), I can make it a LITTLE better but it is still hitching and chugging to unplayable levels.
Now, I think it is EITHER something with SU2, OR the latest Nvida driver we were told to install (for best results, yeah right).
Because I went and flew same settings (not the stupidly low ones but my usual) in New York, and I know I had ZERO problems here (except over Cental Park) as it is my regular test area. But now, I am in some places when going close between the skyscrapers. Not AS BAD as Venice, but it is hitting 100% GPU then not smooth, just for a moment. I turned down settings again and it ALMOST fixes it but I never had to do this before, so something has changed.
And QUITE DRASTICALLY at Venice.
I really don’t want to run with Displacement Mapping off though. It looks kinda bland without it to me now. I already have most other features of 2024 off (wake turbulence, fauna, trees at lowest, live air traffic, static traffic, ship traffic, not ultra clouds etc etc). They REALLY need to do some optimisation!!
Or am I missing something? It is not affecting everyone I guess, so maybe… but I am out of ideas. Raytraced Shadows is locked on for me in VR so not tried that off (would need to set a whole new preset and wipe all my other settings for that!?)
