VR 3D reconstruction is NOW WORKING with VorpX :-)

Installed the latest release of VorpX. Takes a bit to dial in the 3D settings, but the result is pretty remarkable in a Reverb G1 i9-9900K 1080ti. I find that it requires a custom resolution on the desktop of 2160x2160. This proper 3D ‘a la Xplane’, not the virtual desktop type!

Many thanks to boein69 for the headsup.

It seems to be a good news ! Can you give us an idea of the performance you get with your setup ? smoothness ? framerate ? Visibility of the instruments ? Thank You !

TBM completely flyable and instruments readable. Fps in the high 30s but doesn’t really matter. Render setting above 90 doesn’t work. Tried NYC and down to 20s but still incredible. Weather inflight and general sense of being inside a cockpit so compeling that FPs almost irrelevant.

I tried VorpX many weeks ago but the fact that the touch controllers did not work was a non starter for me.

Do they work with this newer version of VorpX?

Please, could you share your setup or at least some basic manual. I have VORPX, but I could not really make it work. Thank you in advance.

Thanks teenyarmadillo7 for starting this topic. Indeed new vorpx finally arrived with a nice bonus for fs2020. Yesterday I noticed the new realease and saw in the release notes it was now supporting FS2020 in 3D. It’s quite different compared to the previous release. In the previous release you could already run FS2020 in simulated 3D view based on a vorpx profile called a plague tale (also from Asobo). You saw some depth in the screen but that’s it, instrumens were still “flat”. With this version like teenyarmadillo7 (TA7) says it’s like xplane, you can see the instruments around you. Unfortunately I didn’t manage yet to setup trackir so I have to simulate my head movements using the hat-switch. But according to the release notes this new vorpx version should be able to detect trackir and use it. I have an Oculus rift and instruments are readable, I was also impressed about the performance, no real stutters even wilth clouds, full scenery flying a A320 is working fine.
@skyhead to setup make sure you install the latest update, the profile in included, if you run FS2020 vorpx should now hook up automatically. The intro splash screen and FS globe doesn’t look 3d but wait until you get into the plane

This is kind of neat, but a bit silly for most people to pay $40 for something that will be free in the sim in a couple of weeks.

Not so silly if you already own it though

Hey, you don’t need trackir if you use ‘Opentrack’. Its freeware and uses the headset to track! Enable it last - once the sim has started - or it is a bit unpredictable.

Sure,

These are the main 3D ones:
Full VR Mode
Aspect Ratio Letterbox 1
Image zoom 1.00
Edge Peek Scale 0.76
3D Reconstruction Z-Normal
3D Strength 0.10
Depth Weighting 0.54

Most of the other stuff is default or auto.

I also set the PC monitor to a custom resolution to match the HMD resolution i.e. 2160 x 2160 in my case as Vorp uses the screen res for the HMD. Any less and the mouse only covers a portion of the cockpit.

Nope tried them. Have to use the mouse.

I forgot, you also need

Focal distance 0.10

Already found it you have to enable it in the vorpx menu when running the sim. It works but with some delay and you are looking through some kind of box if you don t zoom in. If you zoom in the cockpit is gigantic. So still some work on that part needed. But looking out of the window makes you forget this. The fs world in 3d is stunnig.

Yes, the scale is very off and the window effects are a little detached, but how about those clouds!!!

I’ve owned VORPX since 2015 and I’ll wait till the 22nd.
I do appreciate the VORPX injection though.
Hopefully Flyinside team will still make their own iteration of VR injector for MSFS.
Just because Asobo has the official VR mode doesn’t mean it will be the best implementation.
We’ll see soon
