What do I have to do to be apart of the beta VR? I signed up as soon as It came out, and nothing. I have WAY past the requirements for VR. I don’t get it. I never got invited for the closed beta of teh game, signed up a year before release… Now I don’t get invited to VR, and I have been so vocal about vr since the beginning in discord and twitch. Am I doing something wrong here? Only reason I bought FS2020 was for VR. I literally have played it once since I pre-ordered because I ONLY have wanted to do it in VR.
You just got unlucky lol
Meh I didn’t even apply. The Alpha and Beta process was frustrating for me so I didn’t see the need to test under the same conditions. They will release when they release and for sure it will be bugged. Just don’t blame the testers at release please.
Are you a youtuber with lots of followers and can do 4K screen shots?
Someone has been invited to closed beta VR so far?
Did Asobo has already send the invitations?
I have all the requirements (high end computer - Hp Reverb g1) and i signed up since 8th october but so far nothing.
Since i do not see any thread about VR beta i infer that it is not start yet or am i wrong?
Do anyone could answer my question?
I didn’t even apply to get into the VR beta, because I can’t understand the timing of their beta offer. Since initial VR support will focus on the HP Reverb G2, how can anybody be picked, without even having received the G2 yet? Shipping of the first sets hopefully will be underway only within these next few weeks, so nobody besides some preview-youtubers is actually able to lay hands on it right now. I might try to sign up for the VR beta, yet certainly not before the hardware arrives at my place…
Vr beta is not reserved only to the owner of HP reverb g2 but to all the owners of a HMD that use Microsoft virtual reality portal, like Hp reverb G1 or Htc Vive.
Oculus that does not use virtual reality portal of Microsoft, but a their own system, in this first phases will be excluded from beta.
I have understand it so…
I signed up with my ASUS WMR. Got no word yet.
Maybe they wait for the exit of HP reverb g2 before start the VR closed beta
I’m amazed how this false information, even though shared by many magazines and online sources, is still around in so many heads here. This is the official statement by Microsoft from July 30:
Today, we announced Microsoft Flight Simulator will support VR platforms beginning fall 2020 as a free update. VR support for Microsoft Flight Simulator will coincide with the HP Reverb G2 this fall. VR support will be available on all Windows Mixed Reality (WMR) headsets upon VR launch. Support for additional platforms/headsets will follow.
There is no space for any interpretations–it won’t be limited to the G2 but to (already available) WMR headsets.
However, what I do not get is that the G2 is going to ship “early November” (according to HP), but the period of the Beta will be very short then… If VR will, in fact, be publicly available as soon as the G2 is.
I’m not aware of any invitations for VR Beta. To my knowledge, the most recent thing the devs have said is that the beta will begin in late October or early November.
I’m quite intrigued as a matter of fact about the “WMR only initial support”. Here is why:
- Microsoft is claiming WMR is fully compliant with OpenXR and is pushing this standard forward.
- Valve is claiming OpenVR is going forward in integrating OpenXR as well, they already have implemented at least 80% of it.
- Occulus as far as I know is also integrating OpenXR.
OpenXR is meant to be ubiquitous so that it allows developers to reach the widest audience possible, that is regardless of the VR HMD you’re using, you can use an OpenXR game.
This makes me wondering:
- Is OpenXR inappropriate technologically for implementing FS2020 VR support?
- Otherwise what are the drawbacks worth no considering OpenXR?
- What is so special about WMR technically for FS2020 VR besides it is Microsoft own VR tech?
You already said it, WMR is the only one to support fully OpenXR … the rest is still in Beta State, normally it doesn’t work out of the box, you have to tweak somethings
Jorg said in the last Q&A it will start at the end of October or begining of November.
In the previous Beta, you could say you were in the Beta, many youtubers said it, but they couldn’t give details.
I agree but I can’t help wondering then since OpenXR is fully implemented in WMR, will FS2020 VR is implemented with WMR APIs still?
Conversely, why not announcing FS2020 VR is using OpenXR APIs and ‘brag’ Microsoft WMR is the sole technology fully supporting this standard?
This is quite confusing and actually I shouldn’t care much because I’ve a Reverb G1 and awaiting a Reverb G2 pre-order, yet I’m just curious about this!
For you, who knows what OpenXR is … average user doesn’t know, they know the brand of their HMD, and that’s the best way to avoid confusion on the masses.
What i’m wondering is how Asobo know who has a WMR headset and who doesn’t so they can allocate phase 1 and phase 2? I mean nobody has the new Reverb G2 yet as its not been released so the people who have signed up intending to be among the first to test with their new G2 headset won’t necessarily be picked because the HMD info wont be in their dxdiag? I know they have said any WMR headset but makes me think that they will open beta testing to all applicants and just have WMR support meaning folks with none WMR headsets will have access to the VR capable build but will have to wait for other headset support at a later date. Just my take on how I think they will run it, may be completely wrong mind
It’s in the DXDiag file … you better have your HMD connected when you run DxDiag.
Once the G2 arrives, people should update their DxDiag and send it again.
Yes I know but not for the people who have preordered the new Reverb G2.
I guess the first people to send an updated DxDiag with the G2 will get instant invitation … once the G2 arrive
Yes maybe that’s how they will work it just got me thinking how they would roll it out.
