I understand that during missions realism should not be turned off, but any GA aircraft I have flow does not continually yaw left and right constantly, so much so I nearly threw up flying the Cub on my last mission.
I have a real pilots license all be it with only 100 hours but this is terrible!!! I have neveer experienced a real plane as bad as this, even on turbulent days!!!
Any new simmers trying VR for the first time are going to turn off this sim for ever if you don’t fix it!! It is a game and should not make you throw up every time you fly, seriously. I have spent countless thousands of hours flying in VR in other sims and never experienced aything this bad!!!
“The wiggle” as I call it. If you look at the airplane from outside, it seems like it’s yawing unnaturally about the CG, as if it’s a tadpole on a hook. I can’t imagine that in VR. There’s a thread around talking about how the whole world moves in VR, which it should never do because it induces nausea. I’m a very rare user of VR, so that aspect is not in my wheelhouse.
Hi,
Fully agree with the OP.
Like some time ago in MSFS 2020 the yawing is not realistic. However it got reduced later on.
During turbulence IRL the motion is mainly in pitch and roll.
I still think it may have something to do with the way they code the vertical stabilizer (V_TAIL) area in the flight model. Interpreted one way you’re potentially not going to have enough stability and the other you’ll have too much, but either way could be the “right” way for the sim. I’ve never gotten a clear answer on that. Affects adverse yaw and weathervaning as well.
Or it could just be poorly implemented like plenty of other stuff.
Turbulence is another issue in VR. In real life you don’t see the world being shaken around so hard. It looks more like the instrument cluster is and then to a way lesser extent. It can be quite violent in the sim.
Another thing that bothers me in VR is how it shows banking. In a real airplane, it does not look like the airplane is sideways when you are in it! But 2D in the sim does the same thing. I’ve developed a habit of leaning my body to counter what the sim is showing.
I’m sure if you did you would be super critical.
I’ve learned much from you about real would aviation when it comes to pointing out the sim’s flaws. You would be an amazing CFI.
