Does anyone know a way to turn off or speed up the WMR portal transition animation when switching from monitor to VR?
I think that only occurs when using a WMR headset, e.g. the Reverb G2. Itâs the loading of SteamVR and that might just take some time. This would only go away if MSFS became a WMR-native VR application. Itâs somehow odd that MSâ poster child game is not but thatâs what it is ATM.
Youâre doing it wrong if you use SteamVR with G2.
No idea how to disable WMR transition animation. Luckily the âdiamondsâ animation is quick, under a second.
I havenât timed it but it feels much longer.
Anyway, I too dislike the animation and have looked into getting rid of it. I remember early on after getting my G2 reading somewhere that the animation is a video file that can be replaced with an empty file to make it disappear. I didnât disable it at the time and when I finally decided to get rid of the diamonds I couldnât find that tip nor could I find an animation video anywhere on my computer. So no luck for me but I hope somebody gives us the answer.
Rename EnvironmentsApp.exe to something else like .exebak
I forget the folder itâs in, but search for it. Youâll have to take ownership of the file first. Google how, if you donât know.
No more cliffhouse taking up resources, and immediate switch from 2D to VR.
I thought MSFS WAS/IS a wmr-native application.
âŠyes, that does eliminate the transition, but then you get into the âGive Us a Minuteâ endless interruption message and I canât find a way to get around it. When that message pops up in flight, focus is switched and input control is lost until clicking out.
One alternative is to use the lightweight WMR home of âInfinite Expanseâ. It uses hardly any resources and is easier than renaming files etc. Youâll still get sparkles on transition though
Infinite Expanse info and how to select it here:
" * This new virtual home environment can be found in the Pins Panel within the Places menu."
Can anyone point me in a general direction upon which I might stumble into the âpins panelâ and âplaces menuâ?
Put on the headset, press the Windows key or press the Windows button on a VR controller and youâll see the WMR Start panel:
Top right is where the Places is now (it has moved around through the years). Click that and it should list the Infinite Expanse to select.
Thank you!
It really is a labyrinthian mess isnât it
