VR Hands wish

This looks amazing, wish they had this feature in FS2020.

Hand tracking would be cool/is cool indeed. The problem is, that this need to be supported by the headset and VR runtime.
There are already walkthroughs out there showing how to enable this via openxr for MSFS.

Perhaps you could open a whishlist thread so that others can vote on the hand tracking.

Edit: the video above is not real hand tracking, it is just using your VR controllers to push buttons. This is already possible in MSFS (except the creapy blue hands  )

ok but is it as accurate as Aerofly as he demonstrated or hit and miss in Fs2020 ?

You can explore hand tracking options offered by OpenXR Toolkit, but it’s not super precise. And you will need a tracker device like LeapMotion.

It is accurate - you have a white dot where you pointing at - and instead of the hand you see the controllers.

ok sounds doable with leap motion

As said, except for the blue hand you can do that today in MSFS.

It’s just for some reason everyone seems to dismiss using VR controllers immediately. It takes some getting used to and you have to put them on your lap while you’re actually flying with the yoke and throttles or something, but to interact with switches etc. I find them to be so much more immersive than using your mouse.

You don’t need a leap motion, in fact unless that’s gotten super accurate I would venture a guess that using controllers is going to be a much better experience because tracking there is accurate to the last cm.

No need to put the controllers in your lap, at least with the Index controllers. The only hardware my son uses is a Pimax HS, Index controllers, Index lighthouse and my peddles; the only mapping to the controller is the keyboard esc key. Lightly closing your fingers on the controller grabs the in game yoke; opening your hand releases the yoke. The only thing I don’t like with this setup is not having any resistance feedback with the yoke and sliding controls like the throttle. For Helis in VR this is the only way to go imo.
