Okay , finally I’m ready to add a VR , it’s nearing mid 2023 , what are the recommendations , buy or wait ? I have a Windows 11 PC with Intel 12700 and GTX 4070 32 mb ram … I like non-shooter games , exploring , science fiction, very fast internet. I’d be really interested in virtual concerts, cosmic beauty.
4070 is relatively weak, so headset with moderate resolution might be good for you. Consider Reverb G2, they are going to be discontinued, you may find good price.
I’d rather not add the VR if I don’t have the power for it. So I’ll do without it. thanks for the warning.
I’m pretty satisfied with VR with HP Reverb G2, old CPU (i7-7700K) and 4070Ti. It was also acceptable with 3070. Don’t give up. If you try VR (especially for small GA plane, in which you look outside a lot), for most users there is no way back to 2D. Just don’t overdo it with super expensive headset like Aero or Pimax Crystal, consider something less expensive and more matching your system.
yeah ignore the guy who’s saying a 4070 is too weak.
4070 will handle a Reverb G2 just fine.
And HP won’t be dropping VR headsets for some time. It’s worth the money over the Quest 2
The 4070 is only relatively weak if you compare it to a 4090. Whilst the latter is nice to have not all of us can afford or justify the cost.
I bought a Pico 4 as it got rave reviews but my lowly 3060 made it a disappointment. So I splurged out on a 4070, which was a straight swap, and although it ain’t perfect, I’ll not be going back to 2D. You do need patience to get the best out of it but plenty of advice around.
Only ever used the Pico 4 so I can’t recommend it or anything else although now they’ve both been around for a while the G2 still gets lots of support.
get the G2, your 4070 will be fine! You’ll love VR. The G2 is a good solid, all around VR headset. Can’t go wrong with it. Just make sure it comes with the updated power cable. If you buy new, it should.
thanks for the replies ! I appreciate the info.
So do you plug the G2 into the 4070 directly and then unplug the displays that are attached? How does that work. Can I use the G2 , and can I have one monitor also attached showing what's happening so my wife can watch?
There is a USB-C that plugs into your motherboard, it comes with an adapter but def recommend USB-C from a technical standpoint. The Displayport will plug into your GPU. Most have at least 3 Displayports so should be okay.
But yeah depending on the VR game it may show a proper mirror from your perspective on your flatscreen monitor or show the left and right eye respectively. I believe theres tweaks to resolve this as MSFS will show both eyes on the flatscreen
