That’s what he’s saying. I have yet to test it.
I noticed on my system that the 2D settings were set to Ultra and the VR settings were set to medium. So both of mine were reset, as I have my 2D to the lowest possible.
Fortunately, I have got into the habit of taking a backup of the usercfg.opt file before any update, so at least I could copy my personal settings back. Still a pain but not as bad as it is for some.
No… there not its always MEDIUM , you are confuse a bit !
Yeah, I just tested it. It resets to Medium every time.
So VR setting are not save after exit , this is very annoying ! ,do exit the right way , HOW to fix it
or am going back to SU4 Not cool !
OK I have just spent some time on this and I believe that I may have discovered where it is going wrong.
I had the usercfg.opt open in my file editor that tells you when a file you have open changes. The file changes on game start but does not alter the settings, however whenever you click on the settings cog from the main panel it immediately resets the VR settings to ‘VRMedium’.
If I had to guess this was done deliberately so that internal testing would all be done using the same settings but that it was forgotten to be removed before release.
I hope this helps somebody fix this.
VR graphics settings, when viewed in 2D mode, always show ‘medium’ after starting the sim. I suppose this is the default. But if you start and enter VR, and then look at your VR settings, they will show the correctly customized settings. You have to put your headset on and jump into a flight to see the customized settings. Def. a bug, but at least your VR session will use the right settings.
Sorry but no it doesn’t. It might do for you but I can see that they have all altered individually, for me.
yes indeed. It is what I was saying too.
I confirm also did even try to manually edit config file and it will always revert to MEDIUM graphic , also suspect that changing graphic in VR does noting for the moment
It all seems a bit of a mess at the moment.
Entering the VR settings in VR mode and in flight, the sim had not retained my previous (post beta installation) set-up.
I then had a total freeze while trying to restore the settiings, but after restart and going into VR/flight again it did seem to retain what I had set before the freeze (although my pre-beta settings now seem to be lost forever).
I had a quick flight or two, but none of these showed any improvement in performance (as claimed by a few people), actually feeling a bit worse if anything, but of course I do not know if I am using the same set-up
In the main feedback thread someone mentioned setting the usercfg file to readonly works as a workaround, did anyone else try that?
It’s like Schrodinger’s Cat. They’re there and they are not there. ![]()
No I didn’t try that as it just makes life more difficult if you do want to make a change.
For me the best way around this, from my testing, is to save a copy of the settings you want. If you don’t go into the settings cog then you can fly fine. nothing will change.
It will change if you go into the settings option. In which case just replace the new ones with the saved copy once you exit the game.
On my end it seems that settings are persistent itself but as soon as you open any settings, it gets reset to VR medium. So as long as you’re not entering settings at all, it works. Annoying, nevertheless. Changing settings also works and they are stored in the file, but the same mentioned principle applies when opening settings after they have been saved.
As long as you open them in Desktop mode. In VR Mode it is ok.
NO like I have said it does noting ! there is no trick that will make this work
Need to try that one, thank you!
Interesting… the VR settings I configured yesterday were still displayed in the same form today. After another change, the desired/saved settings were available.
Came here to confirm this issue for me as well. VR Settings keep getting reset (Steam Version)
