Settings also work just fine, if you always switch to VR mode BEFORE clicking settings icon . This is required only once during a gaming session, and after that you can switch between VR and 2D modes and enter settings page like you want.
If you go to settings page before switching to VR at least once, settings will be messed. I have set config file to read-only mode to prevent accidentally doing that and reseting my settings permanently. Ofc I also have backup of cfg file.
I kinda wish they would’ve hotfixed this. I know its a beta, but its annoying having to reset everything everytime or doing workarounds. Really discourages participating in it to help find other possible bugs. Oh well, pretty confident this will be in the next update. Gotta be patient I guess.
100%! Together with the missing windows. Both are huge regression and deserve a hotfix imo. Both of them combined and it’s a no brainer IMHO. And while they’re at it, decluttering the graphics settings to how they were before would be nice too.
Well I agree that those 2 items need to be fixed soon but I think we’re past asking for hot fixes during beta tests. It’s pretty obvious they are not doing those. De-cluttering isn’t going to happen either. They consciously made those design choices. I’d just be happy to be able to save and load graphic presets.
Sure thing, but one can dream! And we have had hotfixes in the past. Not in betas though I guess. But such major regressions turn people off using the beta. Like me, I rolled back due to those two issues. Less people testing = less good, also for Asobo.
And we do need to express our opinion on the design choices, especially as they are supposedly overhauling the entire UI at some point. At least that’s what Jörg said a while ago.
Thanks FirebirdFGR2. I don’t have the options you mentioned but it’s easy enough (in 2D at least) to open and close notepad to see when it changes and you are correct it changes when opening the menu from the main panel but also I reckon in flight if 2D. It also changes setting even if you don’t look at the VR section.
More spooky though is that apart from saving to it, it seems to ignore the file and resets in sim settings anyway. I changed the file properties to read only and it still changed the settings in sim to sort of default Medium yet the the cfg file was of course unchanged as I had left it. I was half expecting it to CTD due to being unable to write to the file but it didn’t.
Another thing that’s odd though, why does it leave 2D settings alone but keep changing VR???
One question though, as nobody on YouTube has mentioned this issue, both my machines are Intel 13th/14th gen, mostly theirs are 9800X3Ds, is that relevant to suffering the issue?
I’ll maybe have one more go with a work around but it’s probably 2D only until it gets fixed.
I have an Intel so it is not chip dependent. My guess as to why only VR settings change is that it was something added for internal testing. When I first started I noticed that 2D was set to Ultra too, which is not the way I had it.
My guess is that to standardize testing, internally, they set it so that if you entered settings it reset it to a certain setup. I think that it is simply that they forgot to remove that before the initial beta.
since the SU5 beta, I can no longer save or change any VR graphics settings. In particular, NVIDIA Reflex Low Latency cannot be disabled at all. Has anyone found a solution?
After every restart of the flight simulator, all VR graphics settings revert to default.
The answer is yes you can switch off the Reflex if you want to.
One way of doing it, if the normal way does not work, is to edit your usercfg.opt file. In the first section, Video, you will find Reflex, for 2D, and ReflexVR, for VR, all you do is set them to OFF to disable it/them in game.
