Yes, have been considering both, but it is my birthday. Maybe I am reading too much but the performance increase seen with the 5070 16GB does not seem much compared to the 4000 series. I see I can get the MSI version of the 5080 directly from MSI. The unit seems to have good reviews especially for quietness. I am a bit unconformable with MSI as a brand, however.

Cannot run TAA, with even High-End settings. LOD? Forget about anything over 100.
To get similar performance to 2020 I have to lower settings that make the sim visually less appealing than 2020. I get the base line LOD is higher in 2020, but my rig handles 2020 nearly maxed out and 40+ FPS regardless of airplane and airport.
Just did a clean reinstall of 2024 after removing anything that could have been conflicting. And yet, it’s still so bad for performance. Makes no sense to me. Ready to give up on this sim. Shouldn’t have have to spend 1000s on a new GPU to be get equal performance to an older sim.
You don’t. I’m playing maxed out with TAA and LOD set at 400 and 200. Perfomance is better than MSFS 2020.

Yeah. I’m following every guide I can find for my setup and nothing is helping. I don’t get it.
I have another PC with an i9-13900K and RTX 4080 Super. I can check later. I never ran out of VRAM but I did come close before.
If your issue is strictly VRAM-related, why start a new thread with zero detail about said VRAM issue?
Why not, instead, provide detail or, better, report your VRAM woes in the VRAM-related thread(s)?

Because there are enough „VRAM leak“ threads to make one dizzy. It’s simply that the sim, on similar settings, maxes out VRAM and kills performance. Plus, I’m CPU limited in most cases. Cannot find a balance that makes this sim „perform better“ with similar visual quality. Guess I’m just stuck with it.

Lol…I have a 4080 Super and don’t have these issues. I play with DLSS, no FG, and limit my frames to 30fps. Most settings on ultra with TLOD and OLOD set at 200. Of course, if I run in TAA my fps will drop a bit.
Yeah, DLSS looks horrible flying with glass instruments. So. A visual degradation to get similar performance.

idk… there are so many freakin variables to question in ones control panel/game/windows/bios settings… I think DLSS / Quality is pretty great if you know how to apply the changes in, for example, nvidia profile inspector. yea, LOD regression is bad, but I found it to be somewhat better on a run around Miami this morning after launch. After any update, I always clean cache and stuff like that too. its been mentioned in many threads ad-naseum
I’m using Preset K with the latest Nvidia drivers and app. Glass isn’t as clear as TAA but it’s acceptable for me. Much better than the old DLSS. But if I use DLSS with FG then I don’t like what I see.

Agreed. It’s just insanity to me that you have to have a computer science degree to be able to navigate a decent setting in this game. Shouldn’t be that way. I’ve tried every „trick“ every YouTuber can post. Read blog posts. Reset everything from NCP to reinstalling the game clean. Nothing changes it.
