that sure was wake turbulence…and you got a very interesting problem there, i wonder
how that will go on,i usually play just solo, live traffic on so np, i like that realism.
but for the mp players…
You have to quote the full comment, I mentioned playing offline. If you are bothered by other user’s wake turbulence I am sure you will be even more by those spawning on the runway or doing inverted flights around the airport.
For any kind of serious simming go offline or use IVAO/VATSIM.
I’ve been annoyed by other players since launch for the very reasons you described. The only time I enable MP is when I’m planning to fly with a group, and even then it’s with group only MP. I’ll enable full MP only if I plan on participating in a community event, which I’ve done only a couple of times so far.
That said, the vast majority of people seem to like their MP turned on because of the added traffic over the very sparse real time traffic. People who turn it off or use live ATC services are a small minority.
Its a very easy solution, User controlled “Feel wake turbulence effect”, ideally mapable to a keyboard key, and maybe a way to see , when flying, if it is on or off. Problem solved.
I am NOT going to turn off Multiplayer, just because a few choose to be disruptive.
MP has a Friends List – what it also needs is a User controlled IGNORE list, that effectively stops anyone on the list, being even visible in a player MP session.
Again, easy enough to do by Asobo, but unfortunate that it should be needed !!!
Maybe also a Public NAUGHTY LIST – about time there were consequence for disruptive behavior !!
Got buzzed in my C172 by someone flying a P38 according to their label for the first time yesterday. I thought it was kind of funny though because I don’t have the P38 installed (I’d love to but I’m on XBox) so I saw this 747 zoom down on me then do a barrel roll around my plane. Talk about surreal! I don’t recall turbulence even though the other player was very close.
I remember taking part in a trial on FSX aeons ago, where somebody claimed to have worked out a mod for an air to air missile and because I was slightly disbelieving, offered to be a target for the exercise. Off I pootled in the Cessna Mustang if I recall. Got up to the mid levels around FL280 and was promptly assaulted by… a powered hang glider. Looked terrifying if you could see through the tears of laughter, but our tyro hammered on despite the realisation the model matching hadn’t been on his list of criteria. As an aside, his missile didn’t work. He didn’t even get a round of applause from the pavilion either.
I have hidden several posts that were off topic. Please remain on topic.
I think this can be solved by simply providing an item in the settings to turn on/off the effect of backward turbulence of other users and AI traffic.
I cannot see why it should be such a problem…
Plane Developers upload a Low Poly Model to a central MSFS website , that anyone can download for Free.
Devs get to publicise their addons, by having everyone able to see their plane in their sim, and therefore want to purchase it to fly themselves, knowing everyone will see them.
Devs could even do a livery that advertises the plane !!!
Players benefit, devs benefit, and I;m sure a way could be worked out where the website that hold them benefits as well ( maybe charging devs for the service, that is going to advertise their plane across the whole MSFS MP community.
I can see Devs getting on board … and this will work for the PC users.
For X-box, MS would have to come onboard - and that may well be the sticking point for Xbox.
Of course, if MS hosted the Model as free content on the Marketplace, then EVERYONE could, get the low poly models from there as well ((eventually !! )
But first, maybe the whole “undocumented” MODEL MATCHING system should be looked at, and a workable, reliable model matching set of rules developed.
Great idea, but you’ll have to get in line… we have a long list of other hotkeys we would like to be programmed first
Unfortunately, it may take a while. Programming advanced flight dynamics and CFD; no sweat. Adding a hot key, on the other hand, appears to be much harder than any rocket science, or of such low priority it’s not even on any developer’s list yet. If SU8 adds a single new hotkey as a quality of life update I will be happy, but after 18 months of waiting I’m somewhat doubtful.
(I enjoy MSFS and I usually give my criticism in a constructive way, before anyone shoots me down as just another naysayer.)
I would gladly get to the back of the line – but – I did not realize that there was a line !!!
So, does this line ever move ???
It is beyond me why people turn on multiplayer with random anonymous players they don’t know.
I have to agree. As I’ve said often before, I only turn on MP if I’m flying with a group (Group only, which is actually my default setting), or switch to All Players on the rare occasional I participate in a community event.
I see exactly zero added value to having a bunch of airplanes flying around doing their own thing that I can’t interact with in any way.
To each their own, but I see no value in having random folks randomly forming up with me. Now, if we could communicate, potentially collide, and had the same ATC controlling us, and I could see them on TCAS, then I would probably be more apt to playing with MP on.
Assuming of course there was the ability to ignore or block disruptive players.
I normally have multiplayer off, but I’ve had Live Players selected recently. I’ve been making my way across the United States over the past few weeks and I’ve seen maybe two other aircraft over all of these legs. I do have the labels off so I could have just not noticed them, and am only stopping at untowered airports, but it feels pretty empty out there. Everyone’s in Australia or the UK I imagine.
If you had labels on, you’d likely see quite a few folks in the distance that you wouldn’t see without labels on. I don’t have it enabled often, but doesn’t matter where I am, I’ll see some name tags off in the distance.
Seems not - great image though! I feel much the same when I open a support ticket with our parent company at work.
Due to the huge distance that labels for other players are shown at (mentioned in above post), and the fact you’d likely not want city or POI labels on all the time when flying, those are much-wanted toggles that we don’t have. And those should be easy.
The wake turbulence might not be so easy to toggle if it’s somehow integrated with the atmospheric model around your plane, but definitely a good option to have for MP scenarios. Maybe worth a new wishlist topic for voting?
And to add to this idea, setup the system so that a player’s nametag or aircraft is clickable ingame, and when clicked, brings you directly to the marketplace where the player can purchase/download the aircraft that the other player was flying in.
This could be a grat addition, but with a “ON/OFF” option in assistance.
For IVAO and VATSIM this can be mindblowing, with this the controllers will REALLY need to take care of the wake turbulence and space aircrafts properly.
