In short: I’m so bored about these “mimimimi XYZ is not working and MS/Asobo is so disappointing” threads / posts. Everybody thinks HE/SHE has found the biggest issue which needs to be addressed asap and MS/Asobo are losers and clearly they know how easy it is to be fixed.
But this thread is not ranting about this situation, it’s more about trying (!) to give some input before people are starting with “mimimimi”.
MS and Asobo are building a platform. That’s different to “just” delivering a game with a more narrow scope. They want to create the bare minimums of the platform first and extend it from there. Is the platform in terms of VR perfect? No. Do you want to slow down any another development before VR is good enough? Please NO since me personal don’t care about VR at all. Do Airliners work good? For Simmers no, but looks like some Devs have the tools to actually make them really good (e. g. FBW). Should we all wait until MS and Asobo does that for us instead of 3rd parties? Guess what, no, since not everybody is concentrating on Airliners.
There are bugs. No surprise here, in the end it’s software. I know it’s a bad excuse, but that’s the compromise of complex platforms serving many devices and getting many features (early). But be honest, is the bug XYZ really that bad, or is it just not nice but happy to wait until it get fixed? Nobody denies that CTD are a blocker, but bugs like the ATC & Altitude? Super annoying for sure, but I can fly with it. That does not mean you should just accept the bugs. Report them, let MS/Asobo know, if you have workarounds please share them. Why the drama around bugs, just provide the facts
MS and Asobo are not stupid and only for looking $$$. Sure MS wants to earn money in the end, but they don’t earn money if the consumers are not happy. Just watch a Dev Q&A and you will notice their passion about aviation. They actually are pilots, check their Twitter accounts. So why the hell should they not care about the quality of their own platform?
Just be patient. And if you don’t want to, please think about to switch to another sim / game. But trust me, the grass is not greener on that side, otherwise why should you be here?
Not sure if this thread changes anything in the behavior of the few but very loud people, but hey I tried.
Says don’t be mimimimi then states: “Do you want to slow down any another development before VR is good enough? Please NO since me personal don’t care about VR at all.” Hilarious.
Some might say your “mimimimi-ing” about the “mimimimi-ing”
Personally I welcome constructive criticism. Otherwise there would be no reason for MS to improve things if people weren’t bothered by legitimate issues and problems.
Feeback is an important part of life. How it’s given and how it’s taken are of course equally important. However, I do understand the frustration of many who have spent a small fortune on this sim in terms of rigs, peripherals and addons.
Humans have emotions for a reason. Let people say their thing. Unconstructive or aggresive rant posts will be closed or flagged eventually so no point in crying about it yourself.
Mimimi is more offensive then some rant posts here…
Fair point in terms of my wording, so thanks for that. But I think the difference is that I don’t rant about MS and Asobo put time and money into VR and asking for stopping that. For me that’s all fine, I see the bigger picture.
Today I saw a thread from a guy saying this sim was terrible because the photogrammetric trees in certain area were not good enough, other guy saying he was going to a real sim like P3D because this is a game for gamers because his favourite X feature was not working as intended and so on.
This forum is like a playground for people with anger management issues.
I largely agree with all the original poster has said, the number of posts I see on here quite often range from irritating issues to completely trivial ones. The reaction to these is often so over the top it beggars belief, often these issues do not constitute the sim and being “broken”, “unusable” or warranty threats of “I’m leaving… you watch me… I am about to go you know… the problem is just too big it kills the immersion…”
What I will add though there are show stopping issues that some people are still experiencing. Updates that fail or seemingly need to be a task to complete. In some this may even mean not being able to install the update at all or having to reinstall from scratch.
CTD’s not effecting everyone all the time, but nonetheless some are struggling to attain a reasonable level of reliability.
I will close with this: generally speaking, people on here come across as being really quite quick to scream and shout about the “issue” they have, but when you read it he post falls into the “trivial” bucket. What I often observe though is seemingly a related lack of rudimentary trouble-shooting to fix or workaround, or for that matter provide constructive information that may assist others in helping.
It is a game/simulation, we are all in a privileged position in being able to use it, this is not life threatening.
Mimimi about the mimimi, go it, thanks . But yes, indeed because of what nicely described in your last sentences - it’s about how and the baseline of what people can / should except.
You made some very good points and I’m sure most rational people would agree with you. I think the problem is that to a degree the people who have spent the most have suffered the most. high end VR is a very expensive road to take considering the hardware required, and folks who have spent their hard earned cash to get it have seen their experience degraded since SU5, hence the upset. Let’s hope we ALL get what we want eventually.
So why do they keep pushing these free updates with beautiful sceneries to us then? If they didn’t care, they could just stop, they already have our money as you say. In other sims to get anything even close you need to pay big bucks.
The biggest problem in my opinion is that the focus has been towards how the earth looks, not flying! Its a flight sim, remember that
But ofc, great scenery = Bonus!
Of course.
Thatˋs why Microsoft hired the Working Title crew. Thatˋs why they pay them to deliver a study level G1000. Thatˋs why they will spread this to all stock airplanes. Thatˋs why they pay WT to further update the CJ4 and eventually bring it to the marketplace.
Ah - and no what? All for free…
