Can’t believe so many people still use AV software. Windows Defender is all you need nowadays.
Other issues with Kaspersky were already reported earlier by MSFS users. Though its false positive rate is fairly good there is long term conflicts with MSFS2020. I prefer ESET.
I think it would be useful to hear officially from either Asosbo, or preferably Microsoft to acknowledge the situation, explain it and suggest the optimum route to take here. And quickly, too. Also, confirmation that they are talking to Kaspersky and working with them to remedy the situation, with any likely timescales.
For what it is worth, I have sent an email direct to Asobo to this effect.
yesterday exactly the same!
My system was restarted 1 week ago. This is how I have a clean system! Since I have already made a lot of purchases in the MSFS store, a new MSFS installation would take forever.
- Update started
- KIS2021 reports virus
- KIS2021 locks the MSFS and wants to delete it (180GB)
no way… - KIS2021 deactivated and PC restarted
Since my KIS2021 will expire in a month, I deleted it completely! And let’s be honest Windows Defender is just as good as KIS2021. And this doesn’t lock MS products
Will not renew the subscription of KIS2021. And since this program has been deleted, the PC runs even faster (feeling)
Plus one I agree…and thanks for the info …Good flights
Had the same issue
I deinstalled MSFS because it still didn’t work with KIS deactivated. Turned out that XBox servers in Germany had issues the same time…
Does anyone know if KIS fixed the issue in the last update (30 minutes ago)?
Today I also have just lost Flight simulator off my computor after doing the mandatory update. The whole thing wiped including short cuts. I had no virus messages just a complete loss of the sim. Not good as I now need to reinstall the whole thing and all the tweaks and updates again.
After updating the Kasersky antiviral bases, all works fine now (since 2 hours)…
Solved for me
solved the problem, add to Kaspersky exclusion the folder:
C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_1.15.7.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe
now the simulator works and is updating
What about if the sim is already updated with WU4, can Kaspersky, still kill MSFS?
I admit signing up for an annual 3rd party AV tool has just become a “must do” but never considered that what we have in Win10 is just as good. Might even eliminate some of the extra hog on system resources, perhaps. Too bad I renewed for the year just before this incident. Time to get some credit back.
Bit Defender … the free edition, has caused me no problems, the only problem was Windows 10 64 bit, I received warnings from Defender that the flight sim requires access, allow / or block.
I installed the update only a few hours ago with Kaspersky Internet Security enabled and got no error messages and a successful update so perhaps it is fixed now
.
Same. If Norton thinks something is amiss, I can just tell it the file is ok and it won’t bother it. I think the OP and others would be better off with Norton or even McAfee.
