MODERATOR EDIT:
Removed excessive use of ALL CAPS.

They were able to fix the issue with an update, but as long as windows updates are weekly , each time there is one , then should be also one from asobo ,

Guys it’s not about your graphic cards or anything else for most of us , it s updates which mess up

i fly every days every singlke day , and this happen totally random , i can fly 3 legs of 5 hours each with tons of addons on and nothing will happen and the next day after two hours badaboum

this sim will be awsome and they will stop updating !
or when they will constantly update depend which point of view

Why all that big letters ?! ( see also : Code of Conduct - Microsoft Flight Simulator Forums )

Let the users decide whats helpfull for them. Lots of users report back solutions which relates to its hardware settings / drivers.

Rtx3080 latest driver NVIDIA, BETA, multiple monitors
It occurs only when I move the navigraph window from my msfs window to another monitor

Not a resolution but: Had this error 4-5 times during the whole beta 10 release tests. Now I’m happy. No further CTD’s since Sim update 11.

@TheSevenflyer

Thought I would edit this reply. I think the feedback to give to the developers is is very vague and I think most people will agree, especially as it seems to happen under almost every scenario, including:

  • Loading
  • Menu’s
  • In Flight, 2 minutes to a few hours
  • DLSS On / Off
  • Different Resolutions
  • Different Framerates (locked 30 for example)
  • Low, Medium or High Settings
  • Many different types of Graphics Cards
  • Multi Monitor
  • DX11 / DX12
  • Dev mode On / Off
  • Low Power Mode On / Off
  • Overclocking / No Overclocking
  • 3rd Party Mods On / Off

What I am saying is I think the feedback we are required to give back to Asobo in my opinion does not narrow it down enough, or not specific enough to help identify or diagnose the issue better. There are a lot of frustrated simmers out there including myself.

I wonder if Asobo (3 months on from the first reported issue) could tell us more specific items/logs/info they need such as Bucket ID’s from crash logs, or a small update pushed that allows for people to opt-in to automatically collect data so they can more quickly analyse and view these errors, but then if they did that people will say why are you just telling us this now 3 months on. However, people appreciate transparency.

At the end of the day, they have known about it for over 3 months, the MSFS Zendesk is somewhat helpful, but does not entirely fix the errors, maybe for some, but for a lot it doesn’t unfortunately.

There’s no word if a fix has been identified, or any progress made, and the next AUA update is due January, and after that is SU12 around March, which is most likely when a “potential” fix would happen, although users have hoped that may of been included with SU11, but that leaves around 6 months of this issue persisting, with no guarantee of it being fixed.

EDIT 1:

I do wonder wether this error message is just a rebrand of ‘nvlddmkm’ error? I have checked my logs, and 5 seconds before the Application crashed, I had errors in Event Viewer > Windows Logs > System > Error around time of crash, usually about 5 seconds before:

The description for Event ID 13 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

\Device\0000006f
Graphics SM Warp Exception on (GPC 6, TPC 0, SM 1): Illegal Instruction Encoding

The message resource is present but the message was not found in the message table

EDIT 2: In the Nvidia Control Panel, I have turned Debug Mode on from Help > Debug Mode.

Currently I am able to get past a roadblock that gave me 4 crashes, and the sim is working very well so far I have to say. I’d be interested to see how this change affects other peoples experience. I will do more flying and test as it’s far to early to say but looks promising.

i had a similar issue, store was unreachable and ctd when i hit Fly Now with that listed error

my solution turned out to be a conflict with an addon in the Marketplace (empty community did not help)
in my case i ‘beleive’ it was the solo103 but cant be certain tbh
i also had 'duplicate’istings in the Content Manager (im guessing that was the root cause for me)

i suggest removing Any extras, from the Community and the Marketplace - if its not Asobo/ms it may well cause a conflict

hello Guys ,

I tried everything to solve my problem (this error “Your graphics device has encountered a problem and Microsoft Flight Simulator will exit”) , i found really good solution and helped me out , now i can fly everyday and everywhere.

i did :

  1. empty my Community folder
  2. installed addons Linker from flightsim.to : MSFS Addons Linker » Microsoft Flight Simulator
guide for beginners: Msfs2020*Addon linker guide for beginners*This is the BEST app to manage your addons Hands Down! - YouTube
  3. everytime i add my addones that i need for the flight exp. sceneries or liveries …
than im good to go, ! try this , this solved all my problems and i tested my MFS 4 days everyday like many Hours and its never happened again to me. the good thing is , that you gonna get more FPS with this steps. i feel like my MFS is smoother. its worth a shot imo.

sorry for my bad English

cheers!

Hi ,

But I have no files in my community folder , so what can I do ?
Is that addon usefull ?

  1. Disable / Reset all GPU overclock, only use a custom fan curve i.e MSI Afterburner
  2. Open nVidia Control Panel
  3. Help > Enable Debug Mode
  4. Happy Flying

This has to be done each time you restart your PC.

Folks this has been mentioned several times in this thread.
This message does not display the proper actual cause, it is caused by memory consumption being too high.

IMO too high memory consumption seems to be a symptom rather than the actual cause and running at the Nvidia chip’s specced clockspeeds cures it for most of us. Note this is often different to the graphics card manufacturers own defaults.

Asobo has looked and confirmed that high memory consumption is the trigger in the sim that causes this alarm to pop up.
You are correct, removing any factory overclock and running at the Nvidia chip’s specced clockspeeds will reduce memory consumption and help prevent the alarm from being displayed.

There are other things as well that can be done to help, as mentioned in the post.

The weird thing is, for some persons, it happen during initialisation of the sim, even before displaying the main menu. If they relaunch the Sim, it can go further (so overriding magically the issue) and appear possibly later. Hard to think it’s memory consumption in that case, as nothing changed between both launches…

What is “too high” memory consumption? Any numbers, please.

I wish I could help, I haven’t seen any “numbers”, just the confirmation of the trigger.

I’ve confirmed this is not the case.

I’ve deliberately set my unit up specifically to fail and flew along at 120FPM that’s frames per minute aka 2FPS.

Oh and hitting cache should not trigger a message or make a crash, ever.

Do, or have you gotten, this notice?

I have had the error very early on and what I changed was my VGA cooling and have not been able to recreate it since.

Give me a cause and I will try my best to recreate it on my end but exceeding my video memory has not done it.

I think I may have to dig into the old card pile…

Hi,

I am really wanting to know more than I know to try to manage to figure out what is what.

My problem is:

If the sim has come to the main menu and everything is fine. You open the file manager from windows in front of the game menu and start browsing your communityfolder. You do nothing more than mark the folders in windows filemanager.

The fault-message shows up from nowhere.

My question is:

How can this be related to addons and community-folder? Are they pre-caching randomly in the background before I even have choosen any airplane or airport?

Anyone?
