Water salute (who can develop it)

Hi guys

How cool would it be if someone could develop an addon for MSFS to enable water salute for when you arrive for the first time at an Airport.

Your thoughts?

Isn’t the water salute traditionally used to mark the retirement of an aircraft? (also used when a pilot is retiring or an airline is shutting down to mark the last flight).

Didn’t think it was used to signal arriving at an airport for the first time?

Just a kind reminder, no solicitation (offer for pay/recompense) on this forum. Plenty of other sites exist where you can petition or commission for custom products. Thanks.

Yes its also used for the arrival of the first time on an airport or new aircraft at that airport.

First and last flights

Not mention the famous spouts in Geneva, London etc

The salute can be used for just about any special occasion. When the “Flight of Honor” flights were active at KGSO, every plane leaving for Washington loaded with WWII vets got the wet sendoff. The return was usually after dark, so they didn’t perform the salute on the return flight.

Retired ARFF guy here, water salutes are used in several occasions first and last flights. Both aircraft and pilot retirements etc etc. After about ten ceremonies they get old especially during the heat of summer out on the hot tarmac. When you snobby aviation folks disturb our fireman naps and gym time wanting us to waste our fuel, water sources and manpower spraying your airplanes that aren’t on fire.:stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes::rofl:

Here ya go OP…
Sorry my Driver Operators were too tired and busy on their smartphones to raise the turrets higher it was during our lunchtime anyway.:joy:

water salutes can be used on 5 things

  • Inaugural flight of a new airline

  • Pilot retirement

  • Inaugural flight of a new route by an airline

  • retirement of an aircraft

  • last flight of an airline, airport or a route

It has to be something GSX can add, maybe not for free, but I am sure given all the stuff GSX does they would be best placed

Unless you are a pilot or a new aircraft type for Air New Zealand… It’s been banned for a number of years after an incident where water ended up in the APU system (from memory) and resulted in a quite a expensive repair…

It’s actually a simple mod anyone can do.
Converting the crash trucks as static objects with the water jet animation.
Placing as generic global airport objects.

@Fragman444 You would think that would be common sense.
If I were an Airline owner/ceo I would never want the fleet aircraft’s paint and sheet metal being drenched with the water from our crash trucks especially not knowing the quality of water we get from refill points and the chemical components that can be left from AFF foam residuals in the turret piping.

I understand but since GSX is all up in that, it seems the best way to me!

or pilot …

Yes, as stated if you keep reading within the brackets

Yeah I was going to mention that, I didn’t know the back story though.

There’s video on YouTube of a poorly aimed water salute popping an emergency exit open.

Would love to do this! Any tips on how to try it?

I know how to place static trunks but the water part what is the effect called in sdk?
