Water where there is no water !?

Hello everyone, have you already noticed that some things are extremely wrong !? I fly in Dresden and the surrounding area and there are a few things that are not right. :frowning: In Dresden there is no television tower here, although it actually exists, of course. Then water (rivers) is displayed where there is no water. Since I fly myself, of course I know how it should look. Even if data is flying be reloaded, a lot is just not right here! How can you tell the programmers !? Something has to be done, itā€™s not fun. Greetings JĆ¼rgen!

Dresden has a television tower !!!

Das ist kein Wasser!!|690x193

The AI looks like it confused a railway line for a river. Iā€™ve seen wet roads in the US like this, right in the middle of a town, complete with cars driving along this faux river.

Hello @SteinAFF,

I moved your topic to Bugs&Issues-Scenery because your are reporting an issue.

Thanks

Hello back, that is very nice and that was exactly what I wanted! I can only thank you !! Itā€™s also good to know that Iā€™m not alone.

Yesā€¦I have seen lots of avenue that ā€œbecame riverā€ with a lot of car floating on it!

Have you tried to fly it at night. I bet the lights for the tower are there, just not the tower itself. Its that way in the states. If you fly low at night, youā€™ll see these red lights hovering over the ground, now I know theres an obstacle there because its been there for years, it was there for fs9 fsx and p3d, but msfs there are just lights, nothing attached to themā€¦sadly

Yes! Fly over cities at night looks like flying over area 51 with a lot of orbs and UFO lol

Fly along the roads at night its like a ā€˜tripā€™ back to the 70ā€™s The colors ewwww!

Hello men, nice to read that Iā€™m not alone. We have to report this to the programmers as much as possible! The Bing data is ancient; there have been buildings in Dresden for six years that cannot yet be seen in the simulator. Six years !! I think the Google data would be more appropriate. greeting

Yeah well the bing data seems to be 5 or 6 years old for everyone, I know when I fly along with PG on and Im running i90, 1/2 the road is torn up and under construction (except there are no barricades, construction vehicles etc just the torn up road. This in real life was completed about 5 years ago.

Hell they cant even get the non-PG right either water to high, roads to low, no towers connected to the warning lights and the list goes on and on.

I bought this sim because of the enhanced spectacular graphics, and it pretty much fails even when the sim is running nice.

There are several places along lake Eire (just to name one) that the water when it meets the shoreline actually climbs up the cliff facesā€¦real disappointment. And lets not even get into the bridges that you cant pass underā€¦

Is it to late to get a refund?

Well to ask a refund for this would beā€¦ kinda overkill I guessā€¦ respect the work in progress

Near Leiden, the Netherlands, coords lat=52.23325014143311 lon=4.56116258752114 is a bing elevation boundary (marked in red) that disturbs the water,

From below it looks like a hole in the water,

Found a place really badā€¦ Madeiraā€¦ when you take of and turn, go land inward (the valley)

Youā€™ll see one of the most bizarre water sceneries  ā€¦ It really spoils everything else you see there. Some of this water has masksā€¦ they were applied, but apparently the location was not checked. All this water is not supposed to be thereā€¦

Look downā€¦ poor people living in a place like that ! water all around and you are down below !

Surrealism ? Modern art ?

Laws of physics donā€™t seem to apply on Madeira :yum: M.C. Escher could have created thisā€¦

It looks like water is the least of their concern. There is some serious Inception level terrain warping going on as well.

What do you mean ? Elevation errors ? Can you show an example ?

The above is not elevation errorsā€¦ itā€™s actually accurate elevationā€¦ only the water should not be thereā€¦ I wonder why Microsoft/Asobo does not use one simple rule: water is supposed to stay horizontal, perpendicular to the elongated (streaming) direction. Rivers donā€™t roll. Rivers go downwardā€¦ just donā€™t render water when it tilts to any other direction ! Water like that can be removed, simple rule. I wonder if it would be possible to make an addon that does that. Like LOD for trees can be correctedā€¦

Unless people here are used to parking their cars on a cliff, Iā€™m guessing that hill isnā€™t really here.

Youā€™re rightā€¦ it can be both, I havenā€™t looked it up. But also the water cannot be there on a lot of places. Look at the last image I posted, the horizon. Itā€™s everywhere, these broad streams that go nowhere.

I compared that location in both Bing, and Google Maps. Both seem to have the same problem.

Google

Bing

The image quality in Bing is quite a bit better here, but both render flat structures on to a hill.

Also, no phantom river or lakes in either.

Hereā€™s how it looks in real life, the car park to the left of the road.

And the other park to the right of the road:

You can see that hill has been carved out to make way for these structures, and the surface is much more steep than either mapping source allows for. Iā€™m guessing this is one of the limitations of staring straight down to objects that are very far away, and the closer you get to the vertical, the worse the interpolation of data corrupts the true angle of the slope.

There are a lot of scenery errorsā€¦ and the Bing data is apparently copied with no questions asked.
Errors can be huge, changes in Bing can be hugeā€¦ remember Matterhornā€¦ 400 meters upā€¦

But I think something else is going on here, with this complaint. It is an old complaint, members put messages before about ā€œstrange blue water lints in mountainsā€. Below landscape is not 4 miles offā€¦ the water is off. These hills seem to be ā€œdrapedā€ with water streams that does not exist, or flows elsewhere (?) This bug can spoil a nice picture like e.g. this one :slightly_frowning_face:

Hello guys,

thank you very much for all your feedback and the pictures on the topic. Itā€™s shocking how often all of these problems can be seen. In the meantime, Iā€™ve looked at how you can fix these errors yourself.
First things first, yes, it is possible but with a lot of work and some basic knowledge is also necessary.
On YouTube there is one or the other video that can help you. I learned that while the developers are working on all of these changes, it will take a long time. I just canā€™t understand why you donā€™t finally bring your Bing data up to date !? Theyā€™re over six years old, thatā€™s just a catastrophe. How much work could the guys save themselves if that was up to date or at least the stuff came from Google. Theyā€™re talking about so many improvements and changes that still need to be done instead of focusing on two essential things.

  1. Correcting such measures worldwide and
  2. better integrating the VR thing.
I wish for VR glove integration, other simulators have already integrated that !! I know that everything is not as easy and as fast as you would like it to be.

But you have to concentrate on the basics first and the respective country managers should clearly show where things are stuck. Iā€™ve been following this for a while for Germany and, in my opinion, there is more chatter than what comes out of the back. Greetings to everyone and Iā€™m sure not everyone will share that with me. But I say to myself, ā€œI hope that clear words will also create clear lines for those responsible.ā€

I see many roads turning into riversā€¦ and, again, those greenish roads too (with photogrametry on)
