The link below is set to NEVER expire
I tried your link, and Iām still have the same issue as above. It only shows the #rules channel and nothing else. Do you have any idea what could be causing this? Sorry to bug youā¦I just really want to be able to read/contribute to the WB discord again!
@Vincent1064 If youād compare MSFS 2024 Cessna zu MSFS 2020 (with WBsim mod). Which one is more realistic?
Every response and thought welcome!
Unfortunately, Iāve no clue
And frankly speaking I donāt really care of the flight model. If it matches some speed and the behavior is correct with drag/flaps, Iām fine. I use my PC Sim to practice my flows, checklist and tablet (skydemon/foreflight) management, decision making during VFR flight with weather for example. And Iām more interested in instrument/avionics fidelity. The KAP140 of the Wbsim is great.
Hi Vincent,
itās great to see youāre still so active. Question for a pro:
I installed the C172 WbSim, it runs and works, but I have two problems:
- I canāt activate tow mode, because it puts me outside the aircraft
- The motor sputters at first, what settings did I use wrong?
- Thanks,
- My answer to myself: 1. Too much wealth. 2. Reset the view, to get back into the plane.
A couple of suggestions and adding a bit more detail I hope will be useful, in case you or someone else has the same questions:
A). Maybe your #1 answer to yourself was translated? Basically, in English Iām thinking that point is āMixture too richā - is that what you mean to say? And definitely, if youāre trying to start the engine at a higher elevation, it will run rough (or may not even start) if the mixture is set too rich.
B). It can also cause difficulty starting the engine if you over-prime it. For instance, if during the initial priming sequence (using the electric fuel pump and mixture control) you follow the POH instructions to open the throttle only slightly - equivalent to approx 1/4ā - then turn on the electric fuel pump and push mixture full rich to prime the engine before cranking it, then usually it gives a detectable but small flow on the fuel flow meter and the engine starts fine. But if instead you fully open the throttle during the prime sequence, it gives a large fuel flow indication on the meter and makes it more difficult to start - because that āfloodsā the engine with so much fuel it doesnāt have a feasible fuel:air ratio to ignite.
C). However, what Iāve experienced in the sim is that even after correct priming, the C172 SP wonāt fire unless when you begin cranking you quickly move the mixture lever to sufficiently rich condition. In other words, leaving the mixture in idle-cutoff while commencing the starter cranking will not give you the initial burst of engine firing; you have to advance the mixture control for the engine to fire and come to life. (IRL in a real-world C172 SP, if I recall correctly, after priming you should first begin cranking and get the engine to initially fire and then quickly advance the mixture to rich. Thatās the main difference I find between starting the C172 SP engine IRL versus in the WBsim C172 enhancement.)
But I am very delighted to hear itās possible now to use the WBsim C172 enhancement in FS2024, so a big THANK YOU to all who shared the info on how to get that working!
The WBsim C172 enhancement mod in MSFS2020 is significantly more realistic in modeling the behavior of a real-world C172SP than the FS2024 C172SP, in many respects. But now Iām going to try following the instructions to get the WBsim version working in FS2024 by following the instructions in this thread.
And where can one get the wb-sim 172 mod ?
Thatās exactly it.
I donāt know if itās still for sale, but you have a thread
Oh wow! Thanks @PiotrekPilot for that link to Bagoluās Cessna 172-M mod. I have been wishing for that airplane in FS2024 because thatās the C172 variant I actually fly IRL.
FYI: I downloaded and extracted Bagoluās mod into the Community folder and launched it in FS2024, and it seems to work fine. I understand that not all the new FS2024 functionalities work on it, but itās a pretty good model to fly.
Thank you ā I have to agree with you .. It follows the Kap140ās Official Pilotās user manual VERY closely , so is Ideal to practice in MSFS, the training your receive from your IRL CFI.
Great Video @FauxFlights ā Thank you so much for taking the time, and the effort to make it.
Should help many in their quest to run the āWB-SIM 2020 C172 Enhancement Mod,ā in MSFS 2024.

From the wbsim discord:
With SU5. To have the Avidyne IFD variant, it requires to activate the C172 Classic from MSFS2024. If I activate the MSFS2024 classic version it disables the MSFS2020 Classic version thus the WB-Sim. Any workaround ?
Wellā¦
I for one am presently not a big fan of the Avidyne 550/540 system presently packaged with the SU5 C172 āClassicā. With time, I hope that this might change.
Iām certain that some of my disappointment is due to inexperience and āheadspaceā, but also there is a seemingly scarce amount of instructional materials (printed or videos), other than for the real-life version which more often than not does not apply to the sim.
I still find flying the MSFS 2020 C172 steam gauge versions including the WB-Sim C172 much more satisfactory.
BTW, I also find the WB-Sim C152 with the free PMS 750 installed much better presently than the Avidyne equipped C172 in MSFS2024.
Slightly off topic, I know. Just sayinā.
I hope someone will read this and point me to some reliable instructional materials that apply specifically to the simulated Avidyne GPS system.
TBH itās not that different. A lot of the functionality is similar and is reasonably intuitive to operate if you are competent with the GNS and GTNās. This is kind of a mix between the 2 and was specifically designed to be a drop replacement for the GNS series. Just like with any new interface it will take a little time to learn your way around. To do this you obviously have to use it.
Oh, Iāve been using it and self-teaching on it plenty. Pattern flying, flight plans and ILS navigation are all as you say quite intuitive.
Me - competent on the GNS/GTN systems? Uh-uh. No way. I am a bush-leaguer for sure. But I truly am trying to improve.
My frustration stems primarily from Avidyne RNAV operation.
For me it seems totally incapable of reliably capturing a glide path in RNAV approaches when following what in my understanding are standard procedures.
I have discovered that after passing through the intercept altitude with a failed engagement at the FAF, that briefly turning off the AP, diving back down through the glide path, then turning the AP back on it will sometimes capture it. But it is quite random. My thought is that the code for reliably generating this functionality is slightly messed up.
I have not yet found others who have the same issue, so I am reluctant to submit a formal bug-report.
Do the standard RNAV glide-path intercept and capture approach procedures work well for you?
