Weather settings for best icing conditions

I wanted to see how the ice buildup is modeled on the TBM, how the flight model changes and how the de-icing works. Set the temperature to the lowest possible value and maxed out the moisture (I think) while climbing vom ~5000 ft to FL21 but only some crystals did form on the windshield.

What are optimal settings to cover the bird in ice?

It could be my imagination, but I find icing is worse on descent (after the airframe has cold-soaked all through the cruise).

Actually, I find it’s worse when I least expect it, but that’s harder to test!

I’ve just flown Reykjavik to Edinburgh at night and got plenty of icing when descending into Edinburgh.
Air temp at altitude was -40C so as said above cold soaking might be the start.

For icing you need humidity and temperatures not too cold (+2 to -10 degrees Celsius is best).

Ok than I will put it in the freezer at FL20 and decent into “warmer” weather at -5 ° C. Will test it. Thanks.

I seem to encounter icing pretty much anywhere, any time, regardless of air temperature, so long as I fly through clouds above 5000 feet AGL. In fact, it happens so easily and so often that it’s actually becoming very annoying.

I remember it happened when I was flying one of the Yosemite bush trip leg. The Savage club is covered with ice and there’s a big trunk of ice on the propeller. However I did not turned on the real icing effect at that time only visual effect. I think the altitude was around 13,000 feet
