Im fully stuck between getting a 4070 or the TI version, I play at 1440p and have a 5800x3d. Currently got a 2080 super but is struggling a bit now. At handcrafted airports and in the fenix and pmdg. What would people recommend is the TI worth the extra 200, I mainly play msfs 90% of the time but a few other games here and there. Do people have experience with these cards could you tell me the fps you are getting in scenarios. Thanks
I get 35-50fps in the air and 20-35fps on the ground with my ti. Ultra except trees and grass both low because I think it’s more realistic looking.

According to the above link, at 1440p Ultra will DLSS and Frame Gen OFF:
4070 gets 81.5fps average and 68fps 1% low
4070ti gets 90.1fps average and 73fps 1% low
Both have 12GB VRAM. Both would roughly double that FPS with Frame Gen ON
Either will be very good even with Ultra+/Maxed settings!
I have a 5800X3D and a 4070TI with a 1440p monitor and I agree with the MSFS fps data posted by Speed1994. The TI costs 33% more but gets about 20% to 25% more fps on average in most games, so the TI is not as cost effective. However if you plan to game with the GPU for 2 years or more, I would go for the TI for the additional performance. Perhaps MSFS2024 might need a bit stronger GPU to stay above 60fps at ultra. I don’t use frame gen but that is a personal preference.
I’ve seen videos online of people flying around New York getting like 130+ with frame gen, you obviously won’t get that with airliners but is that a rough estimate of what fps you can get from this card
Careful here. That will be more dependent on what CPU you have. Neither of these cards will guarantee you “Ultra+/Maxed settings”. I know because I have a 4070ti.
I know when you are in gpu intense areas the card can stretch it’s legs, but cpu intense you are limited by the game, so as long as your cpu heavy settings aren’t cranked you will be fine in all situations?
I’m confused. Did you do the testing I suggested a couple of days ago with your 3080, or a 4070?
With my 4070, I don’t have the 3080 anymore.
Great. But this thread was made 13 hours ago. The timing is…off.
Oh well, I’m glad you got the new card.
Happy Flying!
Yeah this was made by me as I’ve seen lots of varying videso people with 100fps with the 4070 and people with 25 and that’s what I get with my 2080 so wondering if it’s even worth the upgrade
I was careful. The OP stated that they have a 5800X3D, so that is what my response is tailored to.
There is also another person in this thread with a 5800X3D and a 4070TI who has already agreed with the numbers I posted.
You should get the high FPS because you have a 5800X3D, it’s the second best CPU for MSFS after the 7000X3D series.
If I was in your position, I would upgrade to the 4070/4070ti!
I have a 4070 TI with an I-9, and it is terrible flying in New York even with a Cessna blocky as hell and freezes occasionally. And forget, virtual reality barely works. Stuttering is awful.
