Weird graphical artifacts around cockpit at night on AMD RX 9000 Series GPUs

The interesting thing is, I have the exact same issue but not on a AMD GPU.
9800X3D and a 5090 and when I have lights on at night, mainly storm lighting I get this weird flickering almost beacon like type artifacting in the cockpit - Instantly stops when I turn the storm light off.

Noticed it in the Fenix and FBW380.

Could you show us some screenshots?

Yep, I was thinking the same thing. Would be interesting to see how it compares to what the 9070xt is exhibiting…

After 3 months, finally moved to the bug-logged thread. Step in the right direction…

I noticed this FPS drop at night in some airports and with the A320 Fenix. The FPS drop and performance are absurdly bad at night in some airports. At the beginning of the simulator it was not like this.

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?

•Yes

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• Artifacts appear around windshield and curved parts of the plane, such as the leading edge and tail during the night section. I also have a similar AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT.

Just installed my 9070xt tonight only to discover this exact artifacting issue. Was hoping it was at the very least somewhat new and would be fixed, but seeing that this has existed for 3.5 months now with no update is disappointing. First time AMD-user too, avoided their GPUs for reasons exactly like these niche driver issues. And there really is no other reasonable alternative, the 5070ti is $150 more with worse VRAM, and the 5080 is just absurdly priced at $1399 or more.

Don’t despair, it will eventually be fixed.
Remember to vote at the beginning of the thread to raise the topic at Asobo.
Also use the link a little higher to add your testimony to the thread opened at AMD…

Apart from this problem, the 9070xt card is a very good card. Once this problem is fixed and the FSR 4 is added to msfs 2024, it will be great.

This is so annoying. I have made the exact same build for some of my customers and they all have this issue. One of them is claiming this is my fault because I recommended the AMD card over the overpriced Nvidia, except for the fact that I recommended the build before the glitch existed… I’m actually getting legitimately angry over this and I don’t even play this game.

Many GPU issues wait forever to be fixed in many games, and some never do.

AMD has a more of them than Nvidia, and always lags behind in tech and features.

I avoid AMD as my time is valuable (to me).
Less problems with Nvidia, so far.

I never had a CTD with my amd 9070xt in msfs 2024 in 6 month…
On the other hand, look at the number of people who experience CTD with nvidia gpus in this forum…

Generally not true nowadays. One shouldn’t forget the disastrous launch of the 50 Series where NVIDIA drivers where a complete mess for multiple months and people recommended to go back the the December drivers for older cards too because they were affected by this mess

“Generally true” in my case.
Sure there were others like me too.

And AMD still lags behind in tech and features regardless.

Considering Nvidias massive market share naturally there will be more talk about them.
Good and bad.

It is what it is.

(“Generally not true” would typically need more context to be considered a proper, complete statement in most situations.)

We seem to be getting a little off topic here but one thing I will weigh in on is the statement, “Nvidias massive market share”. I would guarantee, if this issue affected the RTX 50 series it would have been resolved prior to the release of SU2. I have no doubt of that.

Just wanted to add that I’ve started experiencing these issues across all aircraft at night since upgrading from an RTX 3060 to an RX9070XT.

The latest dev stream mentioned the dev team is almost certain that it’s a driver issue and will discus it with AMD.

And the better news is that we got them to bring up the issue so hopefully it will get resolved sooner rather then later.

Bad news is we are #84 on their bugs to-do list so I hope they don’t go in order.
